Nice Lindsay! Another convincing win, although I didn't expect it to be that hard as we aren't on clay here ;).

Lindsay has really been dominating and it is going to be hard to stop her.
Dominating whom? She beat pretty much nobody except for out-of-shaper Petrova and few one-legged williamses.. She has not faced any top 10 players on hardcourts yet.

So ... Serena, Venus and Nadia don't count. Check. Who does?

Lindsay is playng some of the best tennis in her life. I'm not surprised she beat Conchi on the harHdcourt, its how quickly and powerfully she did. Same with sprem. The poster who says that by beating petrova and the hobbling william sisters, she has proved nothing, is plain biased and wrong.

Every athlete has their peak, and I believe venus and maybe even serena have had it. This does NOT mean they will never be #1, but they will not dominate so completely as they did a few years back.

Lindsay did peak in 98, but she has clearly worked hard to continue to bring the level of play up, and its paying off in California, and perhaps at the US Open.

Congrats Lindsay fans

(btw I am not a big lindsay fan, I think she is nice enough and plays well....but conchi has my heart!)

Lindsay is definitely in her top form. it's sooooo great to see her play like that again. In my opinion she has the biggest chance to win the whole tourney. :yeah:

Impressively easy. Martinez isn't in good form right now, but she's always been a problem for Lindsay with her high moonballs and good defense, so it's nice to see Davenport through with only 3 games lost. I sure hope they can play two more times in their careers, with Davenport winning both, so that she can finally lead their H2H again (or for the first time, I don't know)!

In fact Conchita leads the head to head by 9 wins to 7.

And also, Davenport led once the meeting :p. She won the first time they played in Amelia Island 94, with a 4-6 6-4 7-6 score. After that Conchita won seven straight matches. Davenport got a win in Philadelphia 97, Conchita got another one at the Aus Open 98 and then Davenport won four straight matches (LA 99, IW, Philadelphia and Fed Cup 00) then Roland Garros 03 (where Lindsay retired) came, and then today's match.

Thanks for that info, sonfo. It sure is surprising that Davenport won their first ever match on clay when she was still young, inexperienced, and insecure, while Martinez was a Slam champ!
