Took a bit more than I had expected. Nevertheless Amy proved she was just a level better player than Molik. Now she has a great chance of making it to the semis.
Congrats Amy and bad luck Molik"

Nice win for Amy. She and Alicia have had a few tough matches so it's good to see Amy get this one - she seemed to be serving better today. Another step nearer the top 20!

Wow what great fighting from Amy; and Alicia too. Did you guys know that if Amy can win five more matches, she will have won more matches in one year than in any other year in her career?

Her best year I think was 1992 when she went 33-17 and this year, she is already 29-13. Not bad for an "old" gal pushing 32.

Amy you rock!!!!

Amy is just been more consistent this year. She has had only one first-round won loss this year and that was at the French Open.

She is not playing well enough to beat a bigger hitter like Venus or Lindsay, but she is beating opponents I guess she should be beating.

And this contributing to her very consistent play.

I must say... I'm like, why is this happening now??? Maybe because it's the end of her career and she doesn't feel any pressure at all.

Anyway it's great she's having good results at that stage of her career. I hope she's going to have a good result at the US Open too. ;)
Well Amy has said she still loves competing but I guess the traveling is what she is tired of. I don't think she is doing that much more different than she has in the past.

But if she is really enjoying being out there than she must be going for her shots more. It is probably making her more mentally tough.

Would to see her though have one more big win over a top-player or perhaps even win another tournament.

Yay, Amy! :hearts: I figured this one would go three. Tough for Alicia not to be able to back up her big win over Mauresmo with another win, but losing to Amy certainly isn't the end of the world. Not the way Amy's played lately... And knowing how much she loves those California hardcourts! Good effort, Alicia, and good luck in your next tourney! Keep it up and big things will come for you. :)

Good luck in the QF, Amy. Unlike Lindsay and Venus, Dementieva won't have a huge advantage on you in the serving department. So take it to her and make the SF! :D

I'm not sure if she can, but I really expect Amy to possibly match her high ranking of 13 or better.

I am not sure if the top ten is possible, but she really needs to notch more wins over top 10 players. Her biggest chance could be against Dementieva later today.

I don't think so either..the top 15 is soooo crowded at the moment..there is a slight chance EARLY next year..around french open time where she has allot of points to gain this year..to make this happin..the belgians sisters will have to be back in full force to knock down some russians aswell as the williams sisters be healthy and davenport NOT retire... ;)
