Chanda...... :( I am truly speechless at how poorly she played in that match. There is no excuse for getting broken 4 times in a single set.I hope she can rebound strong from this loss........

If Maria went through, I would expect Anastasia to win, she is more accomplished on hardcourt, and remember she won a slam as well this year. She mull her two opponents so far.
Still would be a very interesting match

Great showing Chanda :D The scoreline doesn't do the match justice, but we know better ;)

I expected a two set win for Myskina, but not this scoreline. Well done to her.

I knew Myskina was going to win this; but I at least expected Rubin to put up some form of resistance.

If all goes according to plan, Myskina will meet Sharapova. This will be an insane matchup. Myskina will be the favourite going in, as is deserved with her better hardcourt record, and her wins over Sharapova. Sharapova shouldn't be discounted though. she WILL NOT give any point up to Myskina without a fight. Plus, if her game is on, and all her weapons are working, Sharapova has a very realistic chance of taking Myskina out. But first, Sharapova must make this match happen by taking out Dulko first. :)

Nice win Nastya...

Chanda obviously needs to get a few more matches under her belt.

A good win for Anastasia. She has great court coverage. A very steady baseline game.

Full marks to Chanda for making a game try of it. And I liked that she kept coming in, trying to force the action.

But Myskina was awesome. Her passing shots were very, very impressive, as were he lobs, which time and again caught Rubin flatfooted at the net.

Myskina also showed great court coverage. She ran down everything.

Sharapova will have her hands full if she gets through tonight.

But my respect for Myskina is growing by the match.

Yup, just got home from a nice barbecue-party and the evening got even better when I saw that scoreline...

GO NASTYA!!! Excellent...uhh...I´m so hoping that Nastya vs. (very likely) Maria won´t be a night match, I want to watch it live!

Totally expected. I hope she keeps up this form, or even improve against Sharapova ( Maria do get there, c'mon).
I'm absolutely sure that Myskina would take out Sharapova either in two very tight sets or 3 sets (two easy and one lost 7-6).
Go Nastya! No1 looms!

Thanks for the summary, TonyP. I had to just follow live scoring... yuck.

Then again, maybe I'm glad I didn't see it. Myskina is a wonderful player and I'm happy for her, but I love Chanda as well. I wanted to see a closely fought match to signify Chanda's return to top-level tennis. I'm glad Rubin tried to get to net... that's a good tactic for her. But if Myskina was too good on the passing shots, there's only so much you can do. Her serve sounds like it was dreadful, though. Lots of games lost to love is never a good sign. :(

Oh well... With a few more matches, hopefully Chanda will perform better in big ones like this. It's still early in the injury comeback for her. Better luck next time, Chanda!

Good luck in the QFs, Myskina. Keep up the good work and let your results silence critics.

that's pretty disappointing. she had her chances in the 2nd set but you can't afford to let them go against such a strong player.

i guess it would be pretty hard to serve effectively when you have both shoulder and knee injuries to worry about. i bet she was just puffing it in and myskina was smacking it away like she was at roland garros.

Chanda :hysteric:

A disappointing loss for sure even against the FO Champion and with Chanda's nagging injuries. Hopefully she isn't ailing and just played a subpar match. Better luck in Montreal, Athens, and New York.

Congrats Nastya :worship: Should be an interesting match pitting the FO and W champs.

Sad for Chanda but I'm more glad that Myskina won sorry but Myskina is just better.
