And becomes #1 in the world lol:D.
Are you a believer? If you do, wanna start betting right now:).
There are only 3 tournaments left, San Diego, New Haven, and Flushing Meadows.
Do you BELIEVE she can win the next 3 and go unbeaten for a 26-0 record:).

Don't you think you are being a tiny bit too positive now?

I'd really love for Lindsay to do it under any other circumstance. But for my own personal agenda, I hope the streak stops tonight. :tape:

wow, it's taken a couple of weeks for the hype to arrive.

match by match. if Linzi does it, i'll be soooooooo happy for her, as i was kinda upset when she said that Wimby was most probably her last. but if she wins the USO, i bet she will retire straight away so in that case i dont really want her to do it

she won't win the open...the winner will be someone no one expected ;)

Are you kidding? She will never go unbeaten till the Open. The day when she will face Sharapove, her winning streak will be over. Davenport just beat a half decent Serena and an injured Venus back to back. Of course regardless of the sisters' health, it's a helva job to beat them back to back. so crap to Linday, oppos claps to Lindsay.

Nope....that´s too tough a thing to do.

Unlikely but never say never. The way she is playing now, she could well do it, but its pretty tough.

i agree with crazy fool. shes playing better tennis than anyone else right now, shes the only one in position, and some other players are having problems. yet it's still unlikely, i would say 10% probability. i would love to see her win the us open, the reast of the leadups aren't as important. she's quickly locking herself the us open series #1 and i wouldn't be surprised if she received the biggest check in tennis history...
but undefeated all the way through... bit too tough.

Lindsay going without losing... To be sincere I hope she loses today against Sprem!!!

Lindsay Davenport d. Conchita Martinez 6-1 6-2......
And takes on Ai Sugiyama next, 5th top 20 player she'll face in 3 weeks.

I believe that she can do it and probably she too believes the same thing. Especially if she wins this tournament, she will be the favorite going into the US Open. She's got the game to go unbeaten the whole summer just like Justine did last year. No one thought Justine would pull it off, but she did.

Venus did the same thing in 2000 :yeah:

Why couldn't she? It's not easy, to be sure, but who's playing better than she is right now?

Venus did the same thing in 2000 :yeah:
Yup, but Lindsay played one more tournament (LA). Which could make it even more impressive:).

Just hope that she doesn´t suffer a let off at the Open.....too many cases of players burning the field at the lesser events and then flaming when it matters.

nah, she has said all along that she wants to end in LA in front of her home town crowd. So she will slug it out during the indoor season, rack up a ton of points, and become the first person to retire at no. 1 in the world rankings.

And you'll see how pissed off the Belgian/Williams/Russian fans will be:D.
I mean, beaten by someone who is like super old is just .
lol, let's see what happens, but wouldnt that be something if she does that:).

1st of all, Davenport will not win the US Open.. she's been lucky the last three weeks and I see her losing before the semi at the open

She'll easily get to the final of Acura Classic, the final will be a BIG game and if she wins then her confidence will probably be on an all-time high. If she plays Sharapova in the final, it would be tougher than playing anyone else.
Sharapova v Davenport would probably be a 50/50 game if they were to play soon. Hopefully another classic like at wimbledon.

defeat Ai Sugiyama 6-1 6-3, still have not lost more than 4 games in this Tier I event.
She just set her record of losing only 13 games in one tournament to win a title in Tokyo.
If she double bagels the Russians in the next 2 rounds, she'll make a new record;).

Lindsay's hardcourt season will be just like Venus' clay season.

Playing some great tennis, and not losing on the small stage, but choke badly on the big stage.

She will lose before US Open (I think).
