View Full Version : Players Autographs

Hi everyone,

I know in the past I've had a lot of success with getting players autographs through the mail. I already got autographs in the mail from:

Hingis
Agassi
Hantuchova
Clijsters
Morariu

I also have autographs from players that I got in person:

Philippoussis
Sharapova
Morariu
Eagle
Cargil
Huber
Bower
De Villiers and some others...

And I have some that I was given or I won:

John McEnroe
Billie Jean King
Lindsay Davenport

I was just wondering who's autographs everyone else had. I know there have been threads like this before...but I wanted to know if anyone knew any addresses for these players:

Federer
Coria
Mauresmo

The only players that I wrote to and got nothing in return were

Capriati
Henin

Thanks for your help...and if anyone needs an address...let me know.

i got Justine to sign a tennis ball and a tennis visor. I got Davenport to sign a different visor and ball. Chanda Rubins and Paola Suarez just signed a ball. Kim signed everything i had. Hantuchova also signed a magazine, paper, and my hat and she asked me to open the pen cap for her. OMG her hand brushed up against mines. OMG SHE TOUCHED ME. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Yeah, coocoocachoo doesnt hve mine either!! Haha!

That's so cool to hear everyone's stories. The only big people I met were Morariu and Philippouss and I gave Corina a letter at world team tennis when she first came back..and I got her to sign a picture of the two of us, and some other stuff. But it was really nice when I got a letter back a few months later from her. She said she had been carrying my letter around in her purse with her. I thought that was really sweet. Philippoussis laughed at me because I was at WTT everynight and I always got his autograph and pictures with him.

I was like 5 feet from Henin, Agassi and Clijsters...but I didnt say anything. Well actually, I screamed "Oh my god that's Justine!" and she stared at me...and Agassi almost broke my nose by hitting me in the face with a ball..but they guy in front of me saved me! But hey, it was nice that he almost hit ME! Haha

At Amelia Island, I got Serena, Amelie, Martina Navratilova, and LINDSAY. Justine didn't sign anything but I have a cute little story. I was watching her practice one day and who should come stand next to me - Pierre-Yves! A middle-aged couple came up on my other side and one said to the other, "who is that girl practicing?" Pierre-Yves just looked at ME with this expression of "oh my god" and said to them "that's Justine Henin" and I added "the world number one." They seemed quite embarrassed, especially after I told them after Pierre-Yves left that he was her husband! LOL

This year at Stanford, I got Petra Mandula (as she was waiting for her car), Mashona Washington, Vento-Kabchi, and LINDSAY 4 TIMES! I had a program that she signed (and I won a Bulova watch woo hoo!), and she signed my hat, another page of my program and a photograph of her I printed out from the 1998 US Open. I also got my picture taken with Mashona after she lost to Lindsay, and with LINDSAY after she beat Venus in the final. Oh my god, I was speechless!

I'm a real bitch when it comes to autographs. Unless a camera or reporter is nearby, I usually turn people down flat, or ignore them, I mean, buy one on E-Bay, I'm too busy to sign a bunch of shit. But, if they really kiss my ass, swoon, refer to me as "Miss Lawson" and say it's their dream come true to meet me, I sign about 75% of the time.

Holy shit! Coocoocachoo has to be the reigning king although i did meet a guy at Roland garros this year who has over 1500 autographs of players over the last 40 years but he doesnt recongnize current players well at all. I have autographs of about 70 percent of top the 80 wta players give or take and maybe half as many atp players and many retired players. I dont have andre but do have hewitt and roddick and many others. for the women i have serena justine jen mary and tons others. Ive gone to RG 5 years in a row like 30 days total.

 Send it to me then! :silly:

FrogBurger.. That's really cool :) I hope to be going to Roland Garros maybe next year, if I can make it financially and if I have enough time. I will be in University next year, so it is really unsure whether I will be able to make it to certain events or not.

And I talked to someone at Rosmalen too, who has a lot of autographs, but he knew absolutely nothing. He also wanted the players to sign a sheet of paper four times, so that he could trade them. But he recognized absolutely no one. He mixed up everyone too ;)

yeah that sucks. I take post its with me and I attach the postits so i never mix them up. its cool to have autographs but if you dont know who'w who it ruins everything. i do have 5 or 6 that i have no idea who they are. maybe one day ill scan them, and you might be able to identify them?

In case it matters to anyone, many of the top (active) players actually have a secretary appointed to sign autographs sent by mail to them. I know for a fact that Martina Hingis, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf (plus anything sent to her on her web site) and most of the top 10 players do this- they have to because of the sheer volume of mail received from worldwide fans. If you value an actual autograph, the only sure way to get it is to show up at the practice courts at one of the tournaments, or be lucky enough to be in the first two rows near a player's exit route from a match, and hope they stop and sign. I have a huge collection of women's tennis autographs from Helen Wills Moody to Steffi Graf, most of them having been returned through mailing a request to the International Tennis Hall of Fame (SASE enclosed), who in turn forwards them to the player home on record (without giving out this information I might add), however, this is totally different than trying to get a current (active) player autograph. Just a few thoughts. Hope it helps.

I have Chanda's that I got through the mail (don't have the address anymore...) Sent it c/o her foundation in her hometown right after Miami last year when she had a gap in her schedule figuring I might catch her on a quick trip home and luckily I did. I couldnt find a good glossy picture for the life of me but she sent me one siged To Nick: For Being A Great Fan! Best Wishes, Chanda Rubin. It's now my most prized possession...

On the men's side I got Roddick's and Spadea's at a tournament in Boca last year. I got lucky getting Rodick's because it was right after practice as he was being mobbed while leaving the court and he only signed for me and this other little kid before running into the player's lounge so I have that program somewhere or other... don't much care for him anyway.

Capriati
Henin

Thanks for your help...and if anyone needs an address...let me know.

i want the adress of them all.. tnx.. you can send it here or to my email. i would really apreciate it.. rommel_canillas@yahoo.com hehehe jacs or peanuts am i crazy?

I have Rainer's address if you want that. he sent me back several. It took a while to get back too, which leads me to believe he may have been the one to sign and not his secretary. I mean he didnt send it back to me seemingly while a tournie was in progress.

Well, I know for a fact that the Agassi autograph I have it not signed by a secretary. I have his house address and I doubt that he has an agent sitting in his house waiting to sign autographs. I believe a lot of the players pre-sign photos and that sort of thing for when they recieve fan mail. I also had the home address of Clijsters, and she wrote me a short note with my autograph. Both her and Agassi's autographs are idetical to the ones I recieved in person.

Rommel99-Ill dig up the addresses from my old computer and send them to you as soon as I can. By the way-Rommel is my dog's name. Haha.

Just another word of advice. You are more likely to get a really good specimen of the player's autograph during an autograph session than under any other circumstance.

I was fortunate enough to get Steffi's autograph at the '95 Indian Wells Tournament. She was signing autographs for her sponsor Addidas and her own charity. She signed two things for me that day, a poster with her image and the tournament program.

I've since compared the autographs I've got to what friends have gotten when they've asked her to sign on the fly. Now, she has a very beautiful autograph, both the S and the G are penned with a lot of flourish. When she tries to execute her signature too fast, however, the S and G don't get the proper treatment they deserve.

During your local tournaments, sponsors often hold autograph sessions. You just have to be there and alert to the possibilities.

Well, it does depend on the player. Magnus Gustafsson always really took his time and he has got a really nice autograph :p

BTW 'Rommel' in Dutch means 'Mess' :p

I'm a real bitch when it comes to autographs. Unless a camera or reporter is nearby, I usually turn people down flat, or ignore them, I mean, buy one on E-Bay, I'm too busy to sign a bunch of shit. But, if they really kiss my ass, swoon, refer to me as "Miss Lawson" and say it's their dream come true to meet me, I sign about 75% of the time.

I don't sign any for anyone anymore since Ebay. Now I sign and sell there. Want one? I can cut you wtaers a good deal.

Yep, your advice is good. I went to RG for years before learning that they had 5 or 6 pros per day at a table to sign for kids/Adult Kids too. Also, it is entirely true that most pros will just sign their initials or something different than their 'real' autographs when they are leaving courts or after practicing etc. Jen signed her full name in an auto session whereas she just writes Jennifer when she is in a hurry. Same for Enqvist and many other people.

Every time I've gotten an autograph in person I've gotten to talk to the player for a long time. Arantxa said she liked my hair cut at the US Open. I ate lunch with Mary Joe and her friends we met in the stands in Newport back when there was a women's tournament. I met Chang in Boston and talked to him. I met Jenny Hopkins, Jim Courier, Xavier Malisse, The Bryans, and Hingis at an exhibition where I worked and talked to them all. Hingis didn't want to come out and party with us!! Then my friend got me a magazine signed by Lleyton.

Coocoocachoo- Of the very little dutch that I know, I actually knew that rommel means mess. Haha. I was just in the Netherlands about a week ago too. :)

My dog Rommel is a Rottweiler. :) I also just got a kitten...and his name is Andre. Can you guess who I named him after? Haha.
