After today's performance. I kind of get the feeling that Vee and Serena will pull out. They need to work on their game, if they are to stand any chance of winning the Olympics, and USopen. I'm sure Vee might not play. Serena might follow suit, citing fatigue.Hope not, but its a feeling. I want at least one of them in the draw!!! I'm already dreading the headline for tomorrow!!!! Somebody help!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favs are losing and I feel so helpless!!!!! :bigcry:

No,no...they need this, they need this. I´m in shock myself. Can´t stand them losing, but the only way Serena´s gonna improve that footwork is by playing beaucoup of matches.

There is no point in serena pulling out. She got the final which is good enough and will improve with more matches. It's not like her career is down the flusher.

Still mad at her...why does her serve and game fall apart always in the finals nowadays?!

To add to that, tht tournament director said today that if Venus needs an extra day to play, she'll get it. In other words, if she needs until Tuesday to give her wrist more time to heal, she can take the extra day.

The best way to improve your game is to play competitive matches ... you can practice as much as you want but it will never be enough! A withdrawal would be a huge mistake!

That's why I like the fact that Venus said she intends to play next week and the tournament must really want her to if they are willing to give her an extra day to start.

3 weeks straight? that'll take a toll on her body, I hope she knows what she is doing.

i hope venus withdraws, no need to make wrist worse, she got in a few matches in the past two weeks, plus she will have olympics....

serena definitely needs to play...

I'm more worried about her legs than her wrists. Even the Olympics is on hardcourt, I dont think it's a good idea to be playing that much, not to mention how hot the weather has been.

Even though they are not winning the tournaments right now, they are adding points out the ying yang because neither of them is defending anything from this point on until Australia when Venus has a few points to defend.

I think Venus should withdraw and play Montr.

I know, they'll both qualify for the year end champs unless they lose QF or before for like 4 events.

I sure as hell hope not, but if Venus is hurt, what can you do.

Bingo. This is their opportunity to get their rankings up. You can see that it really means something to them too because it has been a very very long time since Venus and Serena entered the same tournament (save for slams and miami)

I hope Venus doesn't play in San Diego if she's still in pain but i would rather see her rest and play in Montreal instead b/c maybe i can see her play there :D. Hope you are feeling better Venus :hearts: Good Luck at San Diego :yeah:

No!

Serena's not gonna withdraw simply because she lost,
that's absurd! Serena simply needs to play more aggressively
because that is her style of game, even if she makes a few more
errors in the process.

As for Venus, I heard she's seeing the doctor today and unless
she announces otherwise she plans on playing. I want her to
play because she's been playing well and would've made the finals
and possibly won in LA if it hadn't been for her wrist but, only if
she feels she can and is in no pain.

Agreed!

The website says she is playing. Obviously, she could make late withdrawl, but I think she likes this tournament a lot and wouldn't want to disappoint anyone by doing that.
