So impressed with her attitude as much as anything else. Its gonna be an exciting couple of months. I posted this on the other thread but i really like to hear her in this kind of mood.

"I was surprised that 0-5 that I was still so intense and motivated," Davenport said. "I just wanted to get on the board. That was certainly encouraging that I still wanted to stay out there and fight."

How good would a victory at the US Open be?

Didn't see her play like that for about 2 years! Seems like since she plans retirements she is on fire, and wants to leave as a champ she was before! Would be great if she can climb back to Number 1! After today, I think it is not an Utopia!
LINDS U ROCK! lOve to watch her like that! Nice strokes!

Lindsay was great. I also think something is happening to the Williamses. Their confidence is in the basement due to lack of success. I think they need to go back to basics to gain back that confidence of old. And they need to do it quick before they have too much to catch up from.

Let's hope Lindsay get us the gold at the Olympics, if the sisters falter. I said if, as you never know what a former champ can and will do.

I'd probably rank Lindz as my 3rd favorite player on tour- of course the distance between Serena (whose my number one) and number two (Kim) is about the same distance as Earth from Mars. The point is although I'm not happy with this particular win, over all I'm happy for Lindz. If I could script things to go the way I'd most like to see them, then Lindz would continue to have a great year and end the year at number one- of course Serena would win both the US Open and YEC, but Lindz can win the other tournaments (as long as Serena and Kim aren't there).

I'm very happy for Lindsay esp considering the injuries she has had to overcome and the fact that she may not play much longer, I just hope she can keep her momentum for the USOPen. If Vee or Rena can't win it I would love to see Lindsay win.

It's so amazing having Linds play like this.

Her confidence is back, and is willing to fight and keep in the matches :bounce:

A great USO and YEC would just be awesome now :p

I will be the first to say that Davey will NOT win the USOpen ;)

She has looked great the last few weeks, but someone who didnt look so great during the HC season will end up winning...its just the weird world of tennis :D

Lindsay's looking so relaxed out there... I think a huge reason she's playing so well is because she's made up her mind that she will retire at the end of the year. And after she beat Venus for the first time in eons last week, she's confident as well.

I put her as early tentative favourite for the US Open weeks ago anyway... because she's not playing the Olympics. She doesn't have the advantage of sneaking through the hard court season unnoticed any more... but she's still solidified that status.

You mean like Justine did last year?

Or Lindsay in 1998 maybe?

Interesting situation here. Week in, week out, Lindsay has been the best player this year. It'll be something if she end the year at number 1 and then retires.

Lindsay is playing very well, but do not be confused.

Stanford was a one match tournament. Match poorly played by both finalists. In LA she beat Petrova who hasn't played a good match against a serious played since that AI loss, she beat Venus, who was crushing her int he first set before getting injured. And today.. After seeing the first three games today, I told my friends with him I was watching it right away, that Serena looks strange, almost like she is drunk. I have no clue what happened to her. Comoparing to her today's level, her level at W final was a champion's game. Really, this hardcourt season is not about who wins Stanford or LA. We have two Tier I events, Olympics and US Open. That starts tomorrow. And all current Slam holders haven't played a single hardcourt match yet this summer. It's only the beginning.

If Lindsay wins this next tournament she will definitely go into the US Open as the favorite. She is playing really good tennis and she is really confident right now. I am happy for her.

It is great when an experienced player, in the later stages of her career can relax and play injury free.

I am loving it soooo much. The only thing sweeter than the victory over both sisters is rubbing into the Williams fans and watching them eat crow. It's been a lousy year for them and the so-called Williams comeback has been nothing but alot of hot air.

Have you looked at the Porsche Race standings? Lindsay has moved comfortably into the lead. I know that the year is far from over, but without a healthy Justine, and if Venus and Serena continue with spotty results, Amelie and Myskina may be the biggest competition for the year end #1. Wouldn't that be an awesome way to go out for Lindsay?

Well before I drop dead right on the spot, I actually agree with ys about one thing. Serena did look extremely lackluster today. Ys says drunk but I thought perhaps she just might be sick.

Even at the awards ceremony she seemed a little out there.

But I am very excited to see Lindsay winning tournaments, even if she is not necessarily playing her best tennis.

I think she definitely has the momentum right now and if she is not too weary, I can see her winning at the Acura.

YS is wrong about one thing though: Stanford and LA were very important tennis tournaments since Lindsay is now in front of the US Open Tennis Series and can win tons of extra money by the end of the U.S. Open.
