Who says Lindsay isn't a fighter!?! After being down 0-5 she won the next 9 games against Venus Williams, of all people...she never ceases to amaze me! Good luck in the finals, Lindsay ;)

Agreed. Even though Venus was injured, three months ago Lindsay's mentality would have probably been to let that set go......whether venus was injured or not. The fact is, Lindsay hung in there, waited for the chances took them and stayed mentally strong. Let's face it, we hear it all the time from players themselves when they comment how difficult it is to play against a player you know is injured. This time, Lindsay didn't let that bother her.

I think we are seeing a mentally though Lindsay that we haven't seen since 98/99. Remember that Quarter Final match vs Mary Pierce at the US Open in 1999!? I almost had heart attack during that match. Lindsay looked like she was going to lose it but saved something like 3 or 4 match points to progress to the semis! She lost to Serena that year, but I always remember and refer to that match vs. Mary when talking about mental toughness. Until recently, that was THE Lindsay match - she one that showed everything about Lindsay! Obviously now, that final match vs Venus last week is on that list.

GO LINDSAAAAAAY! :bounce:

I think what motivated lindsay to starting picking up from 0-5 is the fact that she knows she can beat venus just like she did at stanford.... i have to agree she hung in there and tried really hard! it was all worth it lindsay :) i love you

Well IMO Venus wasn't really having tremendous difficulty with the wrist until around 5-3, and by that point Lindsay was playing much much better. You don't just lost a 5-0 lead because you aren't playing well, the other player has to be fighting. Let's face it, a few months ago Lindsay would have checked out of that set. But now she is fighting, which is an excellent sign.

Yes, Lindsay winning the 9 games in a row was definitely not all down to Venus's wrist. Lindsay was mentally strong and hung in there. As you have said winning Stanford last week against Venus gave her the confidence to really fight and hang in there and it paid off.

Will be difficult against Serena today, but I do believe she can beat Serena and take the title. I think she is beginning to believe it to. Go Lindsay, you deserve to win this. :)
