Actually Zeevi wasn't the first choice. Olympic medallists Gal Fridman (surfboard sailing) and Michael Kolganov (kayak) decided not to attend the opening ceremony. The former because his event is too close, the latter because it's too far...
With just 2 hours flight between Israel and Athens and a similar weather, most Israelis will fly to Athens just few days before their events. If I recall correctly, only 9 athletes from a party of 36 intend to march at the OC.

Carlos Espinola will be carrying the flag for Argentina, just like in Sydney 2000. He won silver medals in Atlanta and Sydney in windsurf, but now he switched to Tornado class (yatching), where he will be competing along with Santiago Lange. They won the world championships a couple of months ago.

We won't know until the day of the ceremony ... both Iztok Cop (rowing) and Rajmond Debevec (shooting) have already carried the flag so i'm tipping on Jolanda Ceplak.

For Denmark it will be Eskild Ebbesen from the Mens Lightweight four (Rowing; Gold 1996, bronze 2000). He was chosen over veteran swimmer Mette Jacobsen (5th Olympic Games participation) and Badminton player Camilla Martin (4th appearance at the games and hoping to better her silver medal from 2000).

I think it should have been Camilla to carry the flag but both her and Jakobsen's competions start the day after the opening ceremony so Ebbesen was favoured.

it would be nice if it's Jolanda, this girl is so unlucky, every time i watch something happens, she slips or something. She is so good but so unlucky.
Good luck Jolanda, you'll beat Mutola this time

Judo is popular  ;)
But we rule in winter:). Dont worry:D.
Anyways, I was hoping Daniel Nestor would come back to defend and carry the flag.
I mean, it is just such a fairy tale, his run with Sebastian only after a year.
But hopefully we'll get a gold this year.

I'm not sure who is carrying the flag for Ireland, most likely it will be Sonia O' Sullivan seeming as she's been our main Olympic hopeful for the past 10 years.

I think you are right and there were only a very few. I'm pretty sure Anna (Smashnova-Pistolesi) was not one of them -- is that right?

Paradorn Srichaphan or Tamarine Tanasugarn for Thailand. Some newspaper said maybe Paradorn! :D
And it was Paradorn! :) But boy, did Katie Couric make a mess of trying the pronounce his name - disgraceful! Neither she nor Coastas know anything about tennis, obviously. The only one they commented on even a little was Federer.
