Maria was the one fighting herself BACK IN!

Stupid rain delays. They shouldn't let players get coached during delays. I bet Sharapova's mafiosa looking father threatened her life if she lost this match.

Maria did fight her way back in. Lindsay was up 3-1 in the second set. I think once Maria calmed her nerves, so was able to better play her game.

Sorry, but this is not the first time Lindsay has lost her focus. She does this time and time again and she could be leading in the points and all of the sudden has a meltdown.

Rain delay totally fucked her up.

Maria is doing a better job of exploiting Davey's terrible movement...gosh she is slow...

Even if the rain delay threw Lindsay off her game, that isn't Maria's fault. Lindsay has been a pro for a long time. She is a three-time GS champion. She knows the score far better than Maria does. So she should be able to concentrate better.

Having said that, the match is in a third set. Lindsay can and should still win this match.

Its over now, watch Sharapova totally dominate the 3rd set. Uggghhhhhhh I don't want this girl in the final.

Shit, Maria just broke. This is a nightmare, Lindsay is so fragile mentally. I can't see her coming back from this...

Sharapova is giving her a fight and that's really good. This match should've been over long ago but the girl didn't give up. She's done well to stay in this match. She deserves some respect for that.

Three Grand Slams of her singles titles and she's mentally fragile??? Come on!

Its over now, typical Lindsay, plays great in earlier rounds and fizzles in the later rounds, I'm not taking anything away from Maria's great play but this seems to be Lindsay's MO lately.

Three Grand Slams of her singles titles and she's mentally fragile??? Come on!Yep. Lindsay is mentally fragile at times. She should of kept her focus during the rain delay. This reminds me of Justine upsetting Capriati here.

Thank you! Of course, if Maria does win this match, no one will count it! The haters will say oh, if it hadn't been for that rain delay or Lindsay's meltdown, Maria wouldn't have won. How pathetic.

It's probably over for Davenport. She's not a third setter anymore.

Sorry apoet, but where did anyone say they would not count Maria's win? She won the damn match so how could anyone argue that?

I am just being realistic about Lindsays habit for allowing an opponent to come back in a match when she has a huge lead. This is not the first time Lindsay has done this so I don't know why everyone is shocked. She had the perfect opportunity to get to the finals but lost it all because of her focus.;)

Wow. Lindsay  This will probably be heartbreaking for her if she loses. I hope she doesn't go back into her shell.

Good Job so far Masha!! :yeah:

Harloo, I am not trying to be bitchy here, but I suspect that inevitably some people will not count this win as a true win here because Lindsey lost focus or Maria got lucky or whatever.

True!

But Davenport is just a head case when she's behind.

Lindsay lost focus and lost her chance to go to the finals, but Maria won the match fair and square. Does that sound better?;)

Stupid Sharapova Anna-Kournikova-wannabe Russian slut. Hope she gets demolished in the finals. :fiery:

And Lindsay - what the fuck is wrong with you?!?! Get it together. You've played long enough, it's not that hard to realise you're in trouble and need to lift your game and that the shitty attitude doesn't help you.

sharapova is not a kournikova wannabe!!!:p
ANd she's shown that. She is better than kournikova. And she will achive more than kournikova has. She's got lots of time for more improvement... Maria's just a kid. Stop comparing her to that chick! Nobody wants to be compared to her. You're just mad she won!:p

Go maria!!!:yippee:

I think to even consider the greatness of Maria is a little too premature, because we all know that she received coaching during the break and that does not constitute an upset. I mean if the rain had not come and play continued, there would have been obituaries written of Maria's Wimbledon performance and how she was lucky to make it to the semis and in the USopen she might go far. I gave Lindsay credit for not saying the rain helped Maria. Maybe Maria needs to acknowledge the same thing too and not like she just stuck in there. It sounds good for tv, but lets be serious.
