Arantxa is back in mixed doubles after Roland-Garros, but this time with a new partner...Jared Palmer, whom she has won 2000 US Open mixed doubles with, her last Grand Slam title before her retirement. Arantxa and Jared will face in the first round Hantuchova/Ullyett. In the second round, they'll meet Black/Black...6th seed. But as we all know, Arantxa and Jared have alot of chances to win this event... Good luck team. :hearts:

Vamos Arantxa! :worship: You are the best!

Daniela is only a good doubles player BECAUSE of Arantxa. Arantxa is a far superior and far more experienced than Daniela. Also, Jared and Arantxa have played together for years, for this reason, ASV and Jared Palmer will demolish daniela and Kevin.

Aranxta is old and isnt as athletic as she used to be so she will not be a big threat

Just wanna remember you that Arantxa is still in better shape than almost every top players at this time... Do you think Venus is in good shape? What about Jennifer Capriati? Nadia Petrova? Lindsay Davenport? ;)

33 is old !!!???

Arantxa is still athletic, look at her body at this time! Have you seen some pictures of her playing Roland-Garros or smaller tournaments before? You should! ;) You'll quickly understand that she's still very athletic.

Arantxa taught Daniela how to play doubles...Who has the edge??? Anyway, Arantxa always has the edge! :p

This is what I think! :wavey:

It looked like Daniela had the edge today because they whipped them off of the court! Good luck Daniela in your latter rounds.

Simply hate her draws, she always got the worst place

But they had a great chance in second, some setpoints at *5:4 but they didn't convert it and it was a key situation :(

Better luck next time, OG are approaching :)

I *totally* agree, Hector, she just got *really* unlucky with both her draws. Daniela/Kevin also are GS champs, tho I forget which one (Oz Open?)

Anyway, as you say, on to the Olympic Games. I heard Arantxa will also play doubles with Anabel in Stockholm (no Montreal, rats!) and maybe other tournies too.

She met AO 04 winners Bovina/Zimonjic at RG and lost, now Danka/Kevin are AO champs 02 (and Danka also won Wimby with Friedl), that's really annoying but still hope that Arantxa will play US Open, it's impossible to have such a bad draw even there.

Go Arantxa, better luck next time :bounce:

Daniela actually won the first two Grand Slam mixed doubles she entered, first at Wimbledon with Friedl in 2001 and at the Australian Open with Ullyet in 2002.

She was a finalist at Wimbledon 2002 with Ullyet and a semi-finalist at Roland Garros in 2004 with Woodbridge.

Daniela has quite a record for mixed-doubles. :)

What a shame  Anyway, Arantxa never gives up! It'll only make her more hungry of victory!

I hope she plays on til the end of the year too...she's definitely playing Bali with Sveta, so thats a good sign!

The second set was close and several games went to deuce. I think Arantxa needs more match play but she's looking in good shape :)
