They weren't here yesterday, now I get three popups everytime I move around here. Classmate, Colonize and Capitalone, please take these popups away.

I agree....please. I hope this is a technical error, because I thought this site would never have pop-ups :)

Hi everyone!

We are aware popups are currently being displayed on the site. I have currently lodged an investigation with those responsible for advertising on this site as to why we're getting popups when we specifically requested to refuse ALL such ads.

The way the advertising model is built, you should only receive 1-2 popup ads per session. Unlike other sites you still shouldn't be getting flooded with a popup for every new page you visit on the network. I know it's still a nuisance and I'm 100% against the use of this type of advertising too, as I know Poe is, I just ask you to bare with me while we find out why this is happening.

Obviously we rely on advertising to support the continued development of this site and others within our network. The ads also help us to upgrade our hardware to better support the increasing numbers of people visiting these message boards on a daily basis.

In the meantime if you have any further questions please feel free to post in this thread and we will be more than happy to answer any queries.

I'm getting them too but it's good to know that you're working on them.

Thanks, Amanda! :)

My laptop seems to get freeze-up since these pop-ups have appeared. It's ok if I visit the site using the desktop but there's definetly a problem when I use the laptop and it definetly occurs as the pop-up(s) try to load-up.

The laptop uses the same operating system as the desktop and I've scanned the laptop for viruses and it's clean. I've also done the usual checks like clearing the temp files and making sure there's plenty of free memory etc but I'm still getting the problem (not everytime) but more often than not.

Is anyone else getting this problem? or is it time for me to chuck another laptop into the bin?

Sometimes the pop-up shuts down IE. It's really a pain.
