Cox, who turns 40 on Tuesday, gave birth to a girl in an unidentified Los Angeles hospital, according to a report on the Web site for People magazine, www.people.com.

The magazine said Cox checked into the hospital on Saturday, a week before the baby's due date and was in labor through the night. The baby has yet to be named, it said.

Cox and Arquette, 32, have discussed their attempts to carry a baby to term, including in vitro fertilizations and Cox's miscarriages.

Cox has just finished the 10th and final season of NBC's popular sitcom, "Friends." The couple are co-producers of a home decorating show, "Mix It Up."

I assume that Saddam and Osama are not hugely popular names in the US  Still that might have been a laugh if they'd had twins........

Congratulations to Courteney and David. They are nice kids and they will be great parents I am sure. I wish my daughter's birth had been easier. My obstetrician was so dumb that when I gave birth to Melissa he forgot to cut the cord. For a year that kid followed me everywhere. It was like having a dog on a leash!

I love being a grandmother though. It's great to finally be greeted by someone who's bald, drooling, and wearing a diaper who's not my date!

I hope Courteney and David stay married forever, because if they split up and Courteney gets sole custody, the baby's name will be Coco Cox. If ever there was a name that was gonna send a kid to therapy it's that one.

I never saw her pregnant. I bet she snatched it at the mall or she bought it like Crawford did.
