Some people like Celeste seem to think it's ridiculous to have a 6 or 7 inch signature. Especially if your fav is a multiple grand slam winner or is a top ten. Let's see how many of us are out there.

...they don't allow images in signatures so I can't see why they don't put a limit on length...there used to be a really long thread in Bugs/Error Reporting about oversized signatures...perhaps we should revive it to encourage the admins... :)

...it's also embarrassing when I give a link to a WTAworld thread (so they can laugh at the infinite stupidity on display)...it makes it look like I'm hanging out with a bunch of schoolgirls... :)

If someone has an issue with signature lengths, i suggest they get into the real world and let me give them a real issue to worry about. I assure them after i have got my mits on them, a WTAWorld signature length will be the very least of there worries

Respect is to be earnt, it is not a divine right.

If someone wants me to cut my sig, i really do not care.

If someone wants 953 smilies in there sig, fair play to them. If signatures weren't to be used we would not have them

And threads asking people to cut down on them, only encourage :)

They are to be used... in an intelligent way.

Just a question of common sense and respect for other people.
it seems i can never good rep you :(

But then we could say loads of things about respect, like don't post alot of things that do get post.

I just ignore things i don't like, it's quite easy to do and then i go to my next thread or next website.

I guess i just don't let it affect me as much as some, but that's cool

It's just a question of respect for other posters to keep your signature short.

As for real issues, I'm not buying that argument. Just because there are children starving in Africa doesn't make long signatures less annoying and disrespectful for other posters.
How is it disrespectful and why is it annoying? It doesn't say anything disrespectful to other posters, it's not so long that it takes up half the page on a thread. I don't get the haters/control freak rationale.

If people can't handle seeing long signatures just go in your preferences and cut them off. I swear some of "us" really get caught up in wanting others to behave exactly right. Get over it. If we all concentrated on behavior that annoyed us or commented on it that's all we would do around here.

DeDe4925
Jun 11th, 2004, 11:40 PM
Then just keep your signature if you think there's nothing wrong with it.
Had no other plans, dearie.

i cant speak for everyone but ill tell you why i think its annoying:

. its gaudy like a guido that wears lots of gold and reminds me of those ugly shitbox cars taht people drive around and think its cool to have either ultra-conservative or bleeding heart liberal bumper stickers covering every inch of their POS .

. when there are smilies everywhere and "pretty" colors and oversized words . its SCREAMS five year old pay attention to me and everything i have to say . of course, this may not be the case . maybe some people just dont have taste and actually think it looks good . remember : KISS

. it is disrespectful to members that are still using dial-up . they have to wait for a fucking million smilies to load . this is prolly the thing that REALLY gets to me

.. just my opinion :wavey:

DL, really that's why we all have the option of disabling signatures, smilies and avatars if our internet connections or computers can't handle the graphics. I understand how it can be annoying to someone but not disrespectful to people who systems can't handle it when they have means not to have to deal with it.

I'm sorry you feel that way and that you take it so personally. But, I think it's pretty cool be able to create signatures that express your creativity and/or personality. Some people can get pretty creative with their signatures. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with character, but everything to do with expressing your feelings about your tennis favs or whatever you care to express. It just seems like when people can't open their minds to creativity, or desire to suppress other people's need to be creative, they have control issues.

As far as taste is concerned, to each his own. Personally, I think my signature does look good and I do have taste. There may even be some people who are or have to be very conservative in the real world and this is the only way they can be your Guido.

Regarding the disrespectful part, we all have the option to disable the creative features.
