My father once admired my strap-on.

Well, kinda. It was actually some strapping I'd had done on my hand to protect a sprained thumb, but he got his words a bit confused and said 'Oh, you've got a strap-on', rather than, 'You've got it strapped up'.

Not that any of that was at all relevant. I'll get my coat...

It's not necessary to call it "black" shit, however since 95% of all rappers are black, I suppose that's why she added it.

right now im listening to switchfood and dare to move, but after that i'm going to put the verve on and bittersweet symphony. LOVE that song. Don't know why, I guess the violins or whatever.

And, I can think of many, many black artists that have given us so much in so far as music goes. Aretha Franklin, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, B.B. how are you going to write well when you hardly know how to write (again, not trying to offend) most of these rappers who are only good at talking fast, are just putting words together and have know command of the enlgish language because they hardly understand it.

Tupac - Dear Mama

You are appreciated...

When I was young, me and my mama had beef
17 years old kicked out on tha streets
though back in tha time, I never thought I'd see her face
ain't a woman alive that can take my momma's place
suspended from school, scared ta go home
I was a fool with tha big boys breaking all tha rules
shed tears with my baby sister
over tha years we wuz poorer than tha other little kids
and even though we had different daddies
tha same drama when things went wrong we blamed mama
I reminised on tha stress I caused, it wuz hell
hugg'en on my mama from a jail cell
and who'ed think in elementary, heeeey i'd see tha penitentiary
One day
running from tha Police, that's right
Momma catch me--put a whoop'en to my backside
and even as a crack fiend mama,
ya always was a black queen mama
I finally understand for a woman
it ain't easy--trying ta raise a man
ya always wuz commited, a poor single mother on welfare,
tell me how ya did it
there's no way I can pay ya back
but tha plan is ta show ya that I understand.
you are appreciated......

Chorus
Laaaaady, don't cha know we luv ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, place no one above ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, don't cha know we luv ya

Ain't nobody tell us it wuz fair
no luv for my daddy, cause tha coward wuzn't there
he passed away and I didn't cry
cause my anger, wouldn't let me feel for a stranger
they say i'm wrong and i'm heartless
but all along I wuz looking for a father--he wuz gone
I hung around with tha thug's and even though they sold drugs
they showed a young brother luv
I moved out and started really hang'in
I needed money of my own so I started slang'in
I ain't guilty cause, even though I sell rocks
It feels good, putting money in your mailbox
I love paying rent when tha rents due
I hope ya got tha diamond necklace that I sent to you
cause when I wuz low, you was there for me
ya never left me alone, cause ya cared for me
and I can see ya coming home after work late
ya in tha kitchen trying ta fix us a hot plate
just working with tha scraps you wuz given
and mama made miracles every Thanksgiving
but now tha road got rough, your alone
trying ta raise two bad kids on your own
and there's no way I can pay ya back
but my plan is ta show ya that I understand
you are appreciated.....

Chorus
Laaaaady, don't cha know we luv ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, place no one above ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, don't cha know we luv ya

pour out some liquor and I remenise
cause through tha drama, I can always depend on my mama
and when it seems that i'm hopeless
you say tha words that can get me back in focus
when I wuz sick as a little kid
ta keep me happy theres no limit to tha things ya did
and all my childhood memories
are full of all tha sweet things ya did for me
and even though I act craaaazy
I got ta thank tha Lord that ya maaaade me
There are no words that can express how I feel
Ya never kept a secret, always stayed real
and I appreciate how ya raised me
and all tha extra love that ya gave me
I wish I could take tha pain away
If you can make it through tha night, there's a brighter day
everything'll be alright if ya hold on
it's a struggle
everyday gotta roll on
and there's no way I can pay ya back
but my plan is ta show ya that I understand
you are appreciated.......

Chorus
Laaaaady, don't cha know we luv ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, place no one above ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, don't cha know we luv ya, Sweeeet Laaaady

Laaaady...[fades]...Laaaady

I only refer to rap as black shit... because that's what it is.

You know that's what this young man's father was referring to.

Some of you shoulnd't generalize Rap like that...true a lot of things some rap artist come up with usually does not talk about anything important.....but there is some rap (NEO SOUL RAP) where the artists are being "REAL" rapping from the heart and on subjects about LOVE, PAIN, LIFE, ETC....its really emotional rap. I had to stop generalizing Heavy Metal/Rock because honestly I thought it was white shit ...until I heard "Dont want to Miss a thing" from the Armegedon soundtrack....I'm not a heavy Metal fan but some Heavy Metal Artist have nice slow songs. Anyway I love Rap/Hip-Hop reguardless of the Lyrics...I mostly listen it because the beats. ;)

After all, Ray Charles, who is/was black is a musical icon that has left a leagacy in music that is the envy of most artists regardless of their race! And, I can think of many, many black artists that have given us so much in so far as music goes. Aretha Franklin, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington just to name a few. Are they all shit? I THINK NOT!
DON'T FORGET MA BOY! James Marshall Hendrix! :worship:

You have the nerve to go and generalise like that. I'm sorry, but I'm fairly sure artists like TLC, Beyonce, OutKast, etc, don't care about what race their audience are. As long as their music is enjoyed, then it's fine
Apparently you can't read (no surprise here) becuase I said most whites like you referring to Lina's racist thinking and people who think like her.

Evanescence are awful... Typical conformist MTV rock sound. All the album sounds the same.

There's no bad music genre. It's just depends of your personal taste. I hate rap / hip hop, but that's because I'm only interested in rock music, it's what I like. But I respect it. There are talented artist, like Andrť 3000 or Missy Elliot, just to name them.

So saying rap is shit is just silly. It's like saying rock is shit.I agree 100% with this post. It's all subjective and all about personal choice. I hate rap too, but there are many good artiste out there who I have no problems listening to. I like Blackeyed Peas and Outkast :). But just because I don't like rap means I have the right call it crap. One man's garbage is another man's treasure :).

I can't believe y'all are in here talking about rap and haven't laid some Root lyrics on the hata's :p And let's see if some the elitist can actually get it? ;)

Pussy galore The Roots

Bridge
Dancin on the dance floor
Girl itís you that I adore
Step on stage and scream for more
All I see Pussy Galore
Snap my fingers make you mine
If not Iíll snap a 2nd time.
After that I guarantee you will be standing next to me

An old head once said, ďthatís more power for the cocaine. Freaks dancing on line like Soul TrainĒ
To give your product that extra push
Niggas lookin for the time of their life, coppin a rush
Yo I know sis, Dog, her name Lorraine
She that thick brick house with the chocolate frame
I went to school with her, 12th grade I used to fool with her
She put me on with her squad, I got cool with her

She useta say she wanna be a doctor and couldnít nothing stop her From giving up that cash for tuition even if
She had to ďshake that assĒ
Fucked up her money ainít accumulate that fast
Lorraine know itís real, and sex control America
Turn the T.V. itís in the open on the regular, yo
What the freaks in the video for?
Fuck a song, give me a thong and Pussy Galore

Chorus
You see, lifeís about marketing and Pussy Galore
Every time I turn around itís more Pussy Galore
Nations goin to war for the Pussy Galore
Either the cash, the raw or the Pussy Galore
Yo, gang wars more Pussy galore
From the streets to the record store
Every time I turn around itís more Pussy Galore
Either the cash, the raw or the Pussy Galore

Yo desire and lust can make a man kill
Or jump off a bridge cuffed to a muthafuckin anvil
So itís promoted like thatís all yawl know
Keep a nigga under the spell you under control
But Yo I seem to make people slit they wrists
Weakness, pussy make a spots they secrets
But what for, cause sex is the law, law
And done been many an empire rise and fall
From the Squares to the Players to the Pimps and Whores
To big checks that never would have been endorsed
You know, I just sit back and just peep things
9 out of 10 itís the same song, only the beat changed
So donít be looking at Tariq strange
When I conduct a little litmus test up in your heat range
Thatís when you see me on stage with 6
Wicked ass chicks
Finna get crunk with this

Chorus

Fresh cut, with the thick black velour
With the black Louis sneaks
Headin out for tour
Looking out the limo window up at the billboards
For 200 miles, She was the only thing I saw
Promoting everything from the liquor, to the nicotine,
cell phones, antihistamine, chicken wings.
You gotta show a little skin to get them listening, for real
Yawl know the world is a sex machine
Full of, pretty freaks in designer jeans
Who go to extremes to conjure all kinds of schemes
Half the time it ainít even responsibly
Trying to take me somewhere I ainít tryna be
GHETTO sin city where the P is free
You catch a bid far worser than a 1 to 3
All up in the after hours on the 2nd floor
For that good thang that keep em comin back for more

Chorus
Bridge x2
Pussy Galore x2

btw, they put on a hell of a show......Their band is awesome saw them at the House of Blues last month.

rap has only become crap in the past few years . hip hop used to be an artform [still is in the underground] nothing can beat old school hip hop thou

just like pretty much all music . anything on the radio/mtv lacks meaning . its not any worse than evanescence or whatever the hell is popular amongst the kiddies with all that teen angst
:worship: :worship:

And what do people call what Marilyn Manson or Ozzy Osbourne does?

ROTF!! Thought so!!:wavey:

It's so funny that some folks can look at anything negative in rap and label the whole art form. However, they excuse alternative trash like Insane Clown Posse, Marilyn Manson, and the rest of the alternative trash playing on the airwaves.

I don't like all hip hop, just like I don't like all alternative music, rock, etc. Yes, music today is filled with alot of negativity, but I will not sit up here and act like it's one genre of music. Hip Hop/Rap is the most popular dominant force of music amongst teeny boppers today, but you do have rock and alternative trash also like that dumb song Smack My Bitch Up. Do we hear the outcry when WHITE SHIT get's played? No we don't.

Yes, we do. You must live under a rock if you never heard complain about Marilyn Manson.
No you don't,because if a black artist would of came out in that skanky video Christina Aguilera did it would be banned on MTV. You know the Dirty video.

Most of the time the same people who think rap is the end of the world, listens to Marilyn Manson and alot of that alternative/rock crap that talks about death and blood.

Find me one person who listens to Marilyn Manson and thinks rap is the end of the world. Thanks. Besides, what the hell do you know about people who listen to alternative or rock music?
I know many people who don't listen to rap and listen to rock or other types of music. And yes they think rap/hip hop is the end of the world and then when I ask them why do they listen to all that other crap and hate rap and most of them say they grew up listening to it.

Neely tried to break into rap, but it did not work. She had the "slang lingo" down but a 60-year old short fat woman just is not a rap star. Neely's idea, it is spreading through the industry, she is getting a little 10-year old blonde white girl, dolling her up, giving her the stage name "JonBenet" and the little girl is going to do hard core punk rap. I think Neely is nuts, but everyone is wild about it.

Frankly, I think Rap is probably near the end of it's reign in pop music. Why? Because it's all the same thing and the originality of it all seems to have gone out the door.

To me it seems to be a stuggle to be original and different. I mean occasionally I will hear something that I like such as Overnight Celebrity. But in general, all if just sounds the same and it's become boring.

And don't even get me started about the videos. Damn. If i see one more video of rappers posing at the camera, showing of their dough and girls shaking their asses........

More gay rappers that's what we need:lol:

Of course all rap is not good rap, but all rock is not good rock and all pop is not good pop. There are plenty of good hip hop/R&B artists. Hip Hop is the fastest growing genre in music, it's taking over.
