AMY - Reminds me of Martina Navratilova. Has a huge serve and a great forehand but espacially good net skills.

KIM - She´s a serve-and-volley player as well and has less powerful groundstrokes compared to Amy.

LISA - Reminds me of Monica Seles. She plays extremly powerful from the baseline and has a great footwork. Best player out there.

ERIN - Erin is one of my faves. She has solid shots and a nice backhand. I dont like her serve.

DONNA - Has a good leftie serve and average serve. Looks funny with her eye lmao.

DEBBIE - Solid ground strokes and a good footwork.

COLETT - My fave. She has the best placed shots in the game and a nice serve and all court game.

NANCY - She has really powerful shots but lacks footspeed.

YUKA - One word: average - in everything

BARB - If u get the ball in the sweetspot of the racket its really nice and then she has good shots. Not that good at all.

What do u think about the players? :)

I think Amy's meant to be like Graf and Kim like Navratilova in play - not the way they look.

Lisa is definitely the best. She's the left handed one right ? Definitely a Monica Seles wannabe.

I know you are not talking about that ancient tennis game on SNES. I have not played that one in years. I will have to go dig it up. LOL. Jimmy Conors Tennis is also good on SNES.:D

Jimmy Connors Tennis was fun... but it sucks that you can only play as Jimmy.

I love love LOVE that game!! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :D I played as all of the players... I thiiiiink that Nancy was my favourite... (I liked Nancy and Erin on 'power days' and Donna and Erin and Colett on 'finesse days'. ;) Then Yuka and Barb on 'underdog days' and Amy and Lisa and Kim on 'champion days'... ;) )

When I see Julia Vakulenko I think of Donna... :) Nothing to do with the eye (I'm not familiar with Julia's eyes) but the ponytail... I just think, DONNA!! ;)

I really want to play this game now... :hearts:

(John was my favourite male - I had a HUUUUUUGE crush on Agassi around that time and John was the 'Agassi' player... He had a backhand that was just out of this world... *swoon* ;) )

EDIT: I forgot Debbie... :o

I've got the Japanese version of the game on my emulator and originally all the characters were real players...apparently they changed their appearances and names for the english version (copywright issues probably). Also in the Japanese version, when the players make mistakes or lose, they don't say rats, they say SHIT!

I love how the player names are spelt too: Gurafe (Steffi), Naburi (Martina), Selese (Monica), Garizo (Zina), Saba (Gaby), Maleva (dunno which), Sancha (Arantxa), Capria (Jenn), Naopon (?), Nana (Jana I think...maybe a Japanese player from that time?)

Lendou (Ivan), Edbou (Stefan), Obekka (Boris), Wagasi (Andre  ), Sancho (Javier?), Mackun (JonnyMac), Chiyan (Michael Chang?), Sample (Pete :haha: ), Vichi (?), Matsu (?)

Anyone know who the ? players are supposed to be?

I played today and I still think that it's crap comparing to Smash Tennis ;) even if it's fun.

First, 1/3 of the exchanges are drop shot. You drop shot, she does a drop shot, you do a drop shot, ... Gets annoying.

Also there's a shot (with the x button? I don't remember) that basically is always a winner. So you can win 6-0 easily just by using that shot, so I don't use it at all because it would be too boring. I think Smash tennis is probably more fun as a one player game but Super Tennis comes into its own if you're playing against a friend. There's much more variety of shot that you can use.

yea! my favorite player to use was Lisa (Monica Seles). She could hit down the line passing shots against Amy very well! It was also fun to put different spins on the serve, and very easy to do too! I miss that game......but It blew out on me because I would play it like 5 hours at a time! It got over heated! lol

I don't necessarily agree with that...

I've never played Topspin... but Super Tennis is still more realistic than say Virtua Tennis 1 & 2.

i dont think you can compare super tennis with virtua tennis. virtua tennis is one of the best tennis games out there. the moves are realistic and the graphics are ok

Yes, exactly. My favourite combo is Colett from the baseline and Amy at the net.

*really really REALLY wanting to play these games again*

(Where ISSSS our old SNES? I just really wanna play these games whaaaa... :bigcry: ;) )

Does anyone remember the special match in Super Tennis - you could only access it by using a code? It was John vs. somebody... I played a few times and lost 0, 0 and 0 (I turned John/Agassi into a 'Bagel Boy' ;) ) but then I read a tip somewhere and it advised how to play him... I seem to remember lots of lobs? So I ended up winning something like (set 1 lost) (set 2 lost) 6-0 6-0 6-0!! :bounce: ;)

Oh memories... *siiiigh* :)

Everyone can play this game on their PC.

Find an SNES emulator, and find the games. :)

There were a few codes where you could play with other names.

Thanks Lina... :) I reeeeeeally want to play this game again... ;)

Cool Canuck - I remember there were some players in the tournament and they hit the ball sooooo sloooooow!! They would TOTALLY mess up my rhythm!! I don't know who you mean, I'm sorry... :o I remember that Sandy was a tough competitor in the tournaments - I would lose to her at times... :o

(I will go  trying to think of this mystery player... :o ;) )

Really?? Great.

Linda was a funny opponent, too. She had an amazing backhand, but a poor forehand.

The 1 who brought everything back could be devki.

Playing with one of my buddies over the net right now. He can't touch me. Hasn't taken a set off me yet. He took me to a tiebreak, but i was just too tough. He tried to say that I was a person he wouldn't normally lose to, that I had nothing to hurt him with, LOL.

My fave was Nancy out of the girls. Out of the men, I liked Rob and Matt the best, moreso Matt because he looked masculine without looking like an ogre.

When I first got this game, I went straight into playing the tournament circuit (by accident) before I even had a chance to experiment with the shots. I lost in the first round of the first five events. lol. Then I won a round and lost again. Then I decided to skip the rest of the circuit to see what happened at the end.

Then it got boring because I had worked out how to beat all the players and won easily every time. So to challenge myself, I would choose the weakest female player (usually Collett) and play against the strongest male player (usually John). I still won very easily but the challenge was there. :)

Colett isnt the weakest player!!!!!!!!

I've only played this game a few days, but Amy seems more like Graf rather than Nav. Her FH is rated as BEST on her profile. I think Kim's game is more Navratilova like.

Still beating up on Xr6turbo. I play with a female and he plays with a male and I still beat him. He still has yet to take a set from me. I need a better challenge. Any reasonable poster who wants to get beat, let me know.

The other day I played Tauziat on the world circuit. She was a baseliner with a two handed backhand
