In honor of the all-Russian final @ RG, I'll ask that contingent to go first. Of course questions from others, even *OMG* civil debate is welcome. (And ppl who grew up in other republics of the old USSR).

BTW, this (hopefully first of a series) is meant to include ex-pats with memories of their native land. And should be totally Non-Tennis, except re. its cultural and economic roles in national life.

I'd LOVE to visit Russia.

1. Do Russians and particularly people in Moscow still see Moscow as the "Third Rome"?

2. I have yet to see "Russian Ark", for those who've seen it what do you think about it as a representation of that period of Russian history?

I'd LOVE to visit Russia.

1. Do Russians and particularly people in Moscow still see Moscow as the "Third Rome"?No. But people over there have a serious inferiority complex right now remembering how dominant the country used to be in the past and many of them dream of rebuilding the empire back.

2. I have yet to see "Russian Ark", for those who've seen it what do you think about it as a representation of that period of Russian history?Who knows. But in a way, most certainly so. The representation of Russian classic art for sure.

Buying 10 big mirrors is cheaper than round trip ticket and accomodation over there.

Oh of course, I would too. That is, about rebuilding the empire. I think Russia has the potential to be a real 21st century superpower yet.

Yes, but things are not that simple. Accomodation is expensive. And you would not want to drive a Russian car. That's stuff for real men..

They are mostly copies of Italians models of 60-70s... As a rule, very poorly built ( there is always good chance that your car will be assembled by drunk workers ) , so you have to be prepared to fix them quite often by yourself.
