I hope Elena's loss won't hold her back. Instead, it should make her realize that she can play and beat anyone. I am sure she is working on her serve and nerves. Hopefully, she will be back stronger here. :)

Let's get past round 1 at Wimbledon. Then we can start thinking about week 2.
It's true that Nastya ruined Elena's tournament. But that's her job, to play the best that she can.

moo_ont
Jun 8th, 2004, 01:43 AM
I guess most of Elena's fans know Elena's first problem is not the serve. It's her first round match. I do not like it cuz she can't have good draws all the time. I do not understand why she always has problems with winning the first round.

It's a strange situation. Lena makes the finals of RG and Miami. And she loses her first match at the AO and Rome.
Lots of good unseeded players at the majors.

I totally agree, she's all disappointed right now, so she should just focus on winning her first match and nothing else. Once she starts playing well, she should just go with the flow.

I think it's pretty risky that Elena won't play any grass tournaments before Wimbledon. However, she is a professional player. She should know what is best for her. I agree that if she want to go far in the grandslam, she has to not be tired.

Yeah, but first of all, she has to be very focused on her first match. I believe the further she goes, the better she plays barring nerves.

Stephieva
Jun 16th, 2004, 01:39 AM
gee-al...what is floaters meant?!?!

me thinks lena will be seeded #5-8...
so..lena will be supposed 2play...seed #9-12...in rd4
where probably...nadia and vera z are seeded...:scared:
but ya...first is da 1st match...da 1st goal....:)

Floaters are the unseeded players. Lena can draw a first round opponent who is a very good player.
Like Sprem, or Golovin.

There are a lot of others who are good players, but not ranked high enough to get seeded.
Nastya was down a set and a break to Molik, round 1 in the FO.

Lena had a lucky first round draw in Paris. Very lucky. We'll see on Thursday.
I can see Nastya and Lena both losing early. No grass preps.
I hope not. But stuff happens. I'm only confident about Sveta and Maria. Everyone else needs a good draw.

Stephieva
Jun 16th, 2004, 02:11 AM
me thinks...2 weeks to prepare on grass is too short...:(
lena and ana played 7 matches...must be v tired...
then...how could both play afta that?!?! :o
wimby is too early...

and me won't be surprised if both lose early round...
RG is da best tourny for them...
v big step...both must have some feelin about it left...

It's a bit damned she is in the same part than Nastya. Many russians players are also in this part.
However, this could mean that a russian player could reach the final.
So please Lena win your first match, and then the second and then the third ... ;)

Best of luck at Wimbledon, I think she's going to step it up even more at the U.S. Open, cant wait to see it. I've been watching Elena play for the last two years and can see she's almost there...Huge fan she just needs to relax, stay aggressive, and keep the ball in the court....

Not sure if this is a private site, just online at work killing some time...Played four years in college, but started working in NYC last year and have to keep myself updated on the tennis world online...stumbled on this link today...

If he doesn't select Lena to play Fed Cup, I am okay with that. But if he doesn't select Lena to play Olympics...... :explode: :armed: :timebomb:
I think this wimbledon can't be any worse. The rain, the schedule, Lena D, Marat, Sveta, Masha K, Vera D, Lena B. :bigcry:yeah if Tarpishev doesn't select Lena to play Olympics, then he's a real real idiot and a crazy fool   :( :explode: :armed: then i'm going :cuckoo:
it could be worse! with all my favs going out in the first round

Later
nope it's not a private site :D, be welcome here NYC_23, it's always nice to see a new Lena fan coming around!!! :D :woohoo:

We thought Elena would go far here, but contrary to all expectations, she didn't. It's really sad. But let's get over it.
And this Wimbledon

I think high winds or interruptions didn't help either, especially when the serve is a deciding thing in a game

Jun 23rd, 2004, 09:12 AM
no offence, i like elena
but she chose to skip the tourney at rosmalen to "practice her serve"
which is a stupid reason
cause she could have practiced her serve on the courts there
and got some feeling on the grass too....

so it's kinda her own fault too

JLDementieva
Jun 23rd, 2004, 09:41 AM
I agree Mandy, I think playing a warm up tournament really does help. It's always nice to get use to competing on the surface before the actual Grand Slam. But yeah, it's over now, and there's nothing we can do about it. Just for future reference.

Stephieva
Jun 23rd, 2004, 11:10 AM
hey...skipping rosmalen for lena isn't to practice serve...
lena was too tired...
and me guesses...lena was not ready to play at wimby too...
it's both mental and physical...:(
if lena won RG...it's different story...
lena lost it...it's lena's chance in life time...
maybe...lena knows ... lena can't have this v often...
lena needed time to refocus...regroup...and ...
it's not stupid as ya think...

We all love Lena, but let us not forget that Kleinova played really well. I saw some footage of the match and she really hit some amazing shots and Lena was also a bit unlucky. And in the end you could really see how much this win meant to Kleinova as she broke down in tears. But I have no doubts that Lena will bounce back and bounce back in style if I may add. She just needs to rest a bit, perhaps forget about tennis for a day or two, or a week or two.

Well, I hope she will do better after this loss. But I'm really confident. She just need to play matches to recover her good shots and her confidence. She will probably be chosen for both Fed Cup and Olympics.
Go Lena we all love you forever !!! Even it has been said many times, I repeat it because YOU deserve it !!!
Do your best, we will always support and cheer you ...
C'mon you're the best.

yes such things can happen and you can't chance it sadly  but oh well, don't be sad guys!!!! :) she will come back and win a slam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce: don't look back just look forward!. Guys don't give up on her!! :worship:, she will be positive even through this loss, this loss will make her even more confident i think... Yeah indeed EDF she must play some matches to get her confidence back, but i think it will be soon alright. Pity that the serve is still the major problem  :bigcry: i wonder how long it will take before the major problem is solved , it brings me sad memories (sorry guys forgive me for this if you won't want to hear the word serve ever again!! )

I erased the word serve from my dictionary :) But one thing has to be said in the words of Arnie Terminator Schwarzi: She`ll be back! Interesting though that Nastja lost as well. A bit of a surprise don`t you all agree.

What do you guys think if Elena won't play the Fed Cup? I am okay with that cuz she will have more time to improve her game and get ready for her new tournament in Los Angeles. However, if she plays, it's alright as well. She will play some matches before her first competitive match. It's all good. :)
