Yes, i think Elena's 2nd serve is not that slow...today was the first time i saw her playing *due to my misfortune of not having time to watch*, and her serve was not that bad.. all this time i've been reading about how horrible her serves are. Although i do think she needs to vary the placement...

Elena saved a break point today with a second serve at the speed of 169kmh! Amelie has already stepped in but all of a sudden Elena threw this second serve like a first serve, and Amelie just couldn't expect and hit it a few storey's high! ;)

I am surprised by the speed of Dementieva's 2nd serve ... but what about Suarez and Sharapova :o

Elena served well. I think the way she was hitting her groundstrokes must have inspired confidence. It was interesting that Amelie didn't seem to punish the serve all that much at all.

Exactly, Kart  Amélie was not attacking Elena's serve ... I think that was one of the keys of the match. Elena was not feeling pressure on her serve (except when she served for the match) and thus served better. When Amélie hit a winner out of an Elena 2nd serve, Elena DF afterwards ... but that was the only time I saw Amélie pressuring Elena's serve

I did notice Elena's service motion has changed... there is a bend in her legs now and she has her feet wider apart. Elena has great, powerful legs, so hopefully this can be the start of something special, both in her game and her serve...

Udachi Elena, good luck on Thursday! :)

Rumour is it is now almost certain. Given Elena's tremendous success the chances are that since the second week of June "Dementieva's serve" will be a mandatory class in all tennis academies in the world.

I'm amazed at the placement! In her match against Pistolesi I checked the detailed serve stats and OMG: there are corners Lena did not hit the ball into at all!

Well Jen won 3 slams with a relatively weak serve. It just means she has to compensate for the serve by the other as pects of the game.

Sorry, but her serve still sucks. Speed is not everything, but it is a factor. Placement is more of a factor, and no offense to Mauresmo, but she played some STUPID tennis today.

ESPN even showed the direction of Dementieva's serve, and EVERY SINGLE SERVE, FIRST AND SECOND, were to the FOREHAND of Mauresmo, yet she did absolutely shit.

I'm sorry, but if you're a top 5 player, you would recognize after two service game that the serve keeps coming to one wing. It's time to do something about it, it's not like you have to guess where it's going.
