*Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread*

Could Vika possibly get a WC into wimbledon considering she was the number 1 junior the previous year?

I doubt that would happen. ;)

But a junior Grand Slam winner automatically receives a WC into the Pro Qualifying event the following year, although Vika doesn't need help getting into qualies - and she didn't win Wimbledon. :p

Vika just lost 0-6, 6-1, 2-6 !! Argh!! what's wrong with her, she's clearly capable of winning this match, she needs to get stronger ! She has so much talent, I dont understand hwo she could be beaten 0-6 in the first & lose a third set 2-6 after winning the second 6-1. Come on Vika!

I saw the last 3 games of the match, I'll post what I saw here whenever I'm done with other stuff.

OK.

It was very weird, Vika was showing good movement and good power, but out of nowhere seemingly normal strikes went meters out. The most clamorous of those led to an exclamation from her, it was on English but with a very heavy accent, "What the fuck was that?".
Those 3 or 4 DFs on two serve games didn't help either.

I didn't take the best of examples, but it was sure enough to notice she can dominate from the baseline against most players.

I don't know, when I arrived (a problem with the car delayed me and my father) it was 4-1 against her on the third. Sorry. :sad:

As for attacking the net... on those 3 games she did it once, if ever. She stuck to the baseline.

Why did she choke so much? :sad: That's not her.

When she played the juniors, she dominated, so you never could really tell how inconsistant she is. But now that she is being matched, you can see that she is inconsistant. She's going to need to learn to control her game, or else she won't keep progressing as fast as she would like up the rankings.

Gotta work on her clay game too. :o

Nehz, doubt she will. But im worried that her temper may affect her in her matches especially at crucial points if she's not doing well.

If it was on hardcourts or grass than it would be a great draw. But considering how much "different" (:o) Vika plays on clay, and that Anabel has more experience, I think Vika is in for a big battle if she wants to win.

Very, very disappointing. Vika had more than enough chances to win this game, after being up a set and a break it looked as though she was in control. It really is a shattering result. In reality she blew it, that was her match and she should have never have lost it. She was two points away from the match at one stage, but obviously failed to close it out. Yet another wasted opportunity, and I know she’s still extremely young but unfortunately it’s becoming a worrying trend now.

Thanks for the video DanielaFrenchFan! They have about 9 hours dedicated to the French Open here & i was glued to the TV hoping to catch a glimpse of Vika. I was so disappointed when they didnt show anything, thank god for the video!

After watching the video, I really have NO DOUBT about Vika's talent. She really has the talent & plays like a top player when she is on. I feel she really needs to curb that temper of hers & not let frustration destroy her game as well as work on consistency. Really liked what I saw of Vika in that match. Danielfrenchfan, French TV didnt happen to show the whole match, did they?

She's inconsistant on clay because she likes short points so she tends to rush more on clay because more balls come back. When she's inconsistant it hurts her mentality and she can lose her concentration. On grass or hardcourts she is a different player. :p

Yep until Vika turns 18 she is limited in the number of WTA tournaments she can enter. Slams and the YEC are exceptions if her ranking allows direct entry.

It's time for Vika to shine. She's had a nice start to the year with some ups and downs, but now its the half of the year where she should really start to make noise. Grass and hardcourts are her two best surfaces so it's her time to take advantage of that and get into good form. C'mon Vika! :rocker2:

thats true. however Aga beat Paszek who beat Vika. So its not really a direct comparison. PLus from clips Iv seen of Vika, she has improved her game from last year & has more experience. This is going to an exciting match & how i wish it would be shown on TV, maybe on Polish or Belarussian TV.

Let compare games. Vika is more of a power game while Aga is more smart game. If Vika keeps her cool & consistency, she has the ability to over-power Aga & the grass courts would help her. So hopes looks good for Vika, just has to keep her cool & consistency & not allow Aga to out-smart her.

Im gonna die of a heart attack. First Kirilenko loses next Vika. Vika was leading first sert 4-1 to los eit 7-5 & was up a break in the second to lose 6-4. Why cant she close out matches she should!? Vika would have been a top 50 player by now had she been able to close out matches while being up in break/s!!

Damn this is devastating. Had a really good chance for a 3rd round here. This mentally collapsing is a real worry. Happening way too often.
