Hingis doesn't like the Williams sisters at all. I think that she would still pick Jennifer to win even if she was blind and in a wheelchair. Although I agree that Capriati has a great chance to win this match, I don't consider Hingis to be an objective critic in this matter.

Jennifer is halfway to proving Martina right. She has won the first set 6-3, and Serena is playing bad.

If she continues to play like she is, she will lose for the second straight time to Capriati, and both straight sets.

If she continues to play like she is, she will lose for the second straight time to Capriati, and both straight sets.you remember what Capriati said in her press conference...I just need to keep the ball in play? She's doing that and allowing Serena to self destruct. Not to mention the condition's don't favor either player but moreso Serena, Sharpova, and Venus..

Hopefully she'll get it together here in the second set...She's up 2 breaks already 3-0..so thats somewhat of a cushion.

  @ this thread. She picked Jennifer. So? If when Serena played Talaja or Asagoe and Martina Hingis said she thought Serena would lose then you could look at Hingis and think OK she does not like Serena and this prediction is just out of spite. But Serena is playing Jennifer who beat her last time they played and is a top 10 player and ex RG champ. It is a reasonable prediction so what's the problem??

venus continues to spray her backhand!!

treufreund
Jun 1st, 2004, 03:12 PM
venus hit a ball that was going out on breakpoint and once again her backhand sailed. nastya's game really is very HINGISESQUE in the sense that she is very stubborn, quick, smart and keeps the ball very deep. she is also prone to weak serving and fits of temper tantrums LOL! hingis was the only other player i saw beating venus on a regular basis in backhand to backhand rallies.

myskina starts off with forehand error. venus follows with backhand error.

15 all

myskina 30-15

she never gives credits to a Williams not even when Serena and Vee were dominating the tour so why would she pick a Williams this time? she was right but she also said that Momo was the winner of RG 2004. how ironic........

For your information, she was very reluctant to pick one favourite to win the match. She said Serena had "the force with her again". The journo insisted and insisted and she threw in the name Caps, more based on intuition than anything else

Can't Williams fans just let go of this Martina hates Williams crap? I've seen countless interviews already where Martina said good things about the sisters like "Serena's game being technically perfect". She picked Capriati based on intuition, and not for any vengeful reasons. *sigh*

Too true. Only Hingis was smart enough to pick Clijsters to win the YEC last year when the ESPN commentators were all favoring Henin.
