woah, lol. that was the plan if not australia, then things were put off to clay. and she looks awesome but wasn't ready to play like she wanted. maybe wimbledon. the only thing she's committed to is WTT which beings in july, i believe. though she may play some grass and then do wtt and some hardcourt tourneys, but it's really not a sure thing on anything.

A transcript of John McEnroe talking about Monica during his commentary for NBC:

"Ted (Robinson, co-host), you'll be happy to know that I practiced with Monica in California in March. She was working away at (indecipherable) hitting the ball great. She'd worked hard to get herself into good condition, and then she, about a month ago, suffered a relapse and just cannot seem to get over the hump. And she's got a lot of pride, and she doesn't want to come back out here unless she really believes she's got a chance to do something. ---- (after next point) It's not going to be easy for her to pull it together - with problems with your feet - on hard courts. Clay is the most forgiving of the surfaces."

Thanks for the snippet, Errinella! McEnroe seems to have a soft spot for Monica, as he always supports her in his comments and commentary (I particularly remember his coverage of her match with Amelie at the French a few years ago...he sounds like a real fan!:) ).

But this is a frustrating period for Selestials, particularly as she sounds so tantalisingly close to actually hitting the courts soon. When, oh WHEN is her body going to give her a break and allow her to compete?
