Lindsay possibly fractured the cartilage in her knee. If so, that means she would miss Wimbledon and possibly the US hardcourt season, and it would probably require more surgury. If it is a bone bruise, Lindsay would be able to play Wimbledon. Get well soon Linds.

She will be returning to California immediately and getting in examed. From my experience, if it is fractured she'd probably require surgury and be out until at least the US Open. If it is a bruise, she would most likely be able to play Wimbledon.

She probably should have just retired. Oh well. If it is only a bruise, she should really ask for a wildcard into Eastbourne or another grass tune-up to get ready for Wimby.

"In the beginning it felt fine," Lindsay said. "I lost the first set
6-1 because I didn't play well, it wasn't even that. But early in the
second, I just felt this like click that I get in there where I just
kind of land funny on my knee. From then on, it was really sore.

"I don't know exactly what I did. I'm pretty sure I didn't fracture
the cartilage like I did the bad time before. I don't know if maybe I
have a small bone bruise again or what. It was just a huge irritant
in the second set."

thats what she said in an interview..looks good if an injury can be good

Hopefully it isn't too bad, i doubt it is a fracture anyway.

Quotes in articles.

RG upload Lindsay's interview? :haha:

I've been reading some articles and it doesn't seem like it's torn, but it still doesn't sound good from LD. I think if she needs to have another surgury that she wouldn't return.

Lindsay just fell to #5 in the rankings with Myskina's win over Venus. Blah.

If Lindsay was healthy she would have beaten Dementieva. And Dementieva just beat headcase. Blah.

Davenport may need to rest knee before Wimbledon

June 2, 2004

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- Linsday Davenport may need to rest before Wimbledon because of an injury to her right knee that she says contributed to her French Open loss.

The injury is a flare-up to the one that sidelined the three-time major champion two years ago.

``I've had no problems with it since I had surgery,'' Davenport said in a conference call Wednesday. ``Slowly, the last month it's been bothering me and to the point now where it's been a little bit more frequent.''

Davenport was ousted from the French Open in the fourth round Sunday, losing 6-3, 6-1 to Elena Dementieva.

Davenport was to have her knee examined later Wednesday, anticipating the doctor will prescribe rest but no surgery. Davenport has three weeks before Wimbledon to see how the knee feels.

``I don't feel like I did anything too major to it, as bad as I hurt it in 2002,'' she said. ``It's just a little concerning that it's started to hurt me on and off over the last month.''

She had arthroscopic surgery on the knee in January 2002 and missed the first half of the 2002 season.

Davenport had surgery on her left foot after last year's U.S. Open. Surgeons removed a mass on the foot that had been pressing on a nerve and severed the nerve. The nerve problem forced her to withdraw from last year's Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven.

To me, this seems very similar to the events in 2001.

Don't despair just yet. Lindsay is going to have it checked but she says it most probably does not mean surgery.

The fact that she beat Myskina's ass earlier in the year is very disturbing. If she is out for a while I demand a #4 special seeding like THE SISTAHZZZZ got.

foreva lindsay
Jun 3rd, 2004, 09:21 PM
she better get a protected ranking, hopefully she wont need it but omg i cant believe it, how did the russians catch up with the top 4, i thought the positions were secure :(

jacs
Jun 4th, 2004, 02:57 AM
Well, Linsday got a protected when she returned from her knee injury. That is the same thing that the Venus and Serena are employing now. Since any effects of her injury are not yet confirmed, she can't use it again. Don't worry guys, it might still work out well for her :) Besides, Wimby has traditionally not focused much on the rankings in determining its seeding.

And the Russians have been a lot more than Linds this year so that's why they are higher ranked I believe. And they're actually good.

The only thing I personally care about, is Lindsay's health. Wheather she is ranked 4-5-6 I don't care... as long as she's healthy. Let's pray that she'll be healthy for Wimbledon and play it cause I believe our girl has got A GREAT CHANCE!

when you're a fan of a player, it shouldnt matter if they're winning or losing, i'm sure the first thing lindsay is thinking about in her head is that she wants to be healthy, then she'll worry about winning.

Watching Lindsay play like chicken shit and losing to players who she would normally kick would get me very anger. VERY anger. It is not acceptable. Great if she is healthy but if she's losing to crap then still anger.

So pleaed she is playing Wimby. Will she be seed 4, that is will Serena be 1, Myskina 2, Mauresmo 3. Venus protected ranking should have ended now but will Wimby seed her higher than Venus or not?

Frederic
Jun 14th, 2004, 08:28 AM
oh!!!I'm so reassured that Lindsay is playing Wimbledon, because I nearly cried when I saw her at Roland Garros in the 4th round!!! I'm pleased to see that her injury isn't to much serious. To me, Lindsay will be seed n°5, because Serena 1, Venus 2, Myskina 3, Mauresmo 4, and Lindsay 5. I think it's gonna be that way, but I hope she'll be at least n°4, to not meet seed n°1 or 2 before the semis.... I'm nearly sure that Williams sisters have still got their protected ranking. But what about Lindsay's preparation on grass?

Lindsayfan
