Quite a tricky draw. Rounds 1-3 should be quite straightfoward, but the opponents are of a standard higher than you would expect in those rounds. 4R will be tough. Cappy beat her in Rome, so let's hope Serena feels hungry enough to thrash her (sounds like the situation with Mauresmo last year). SF will be a heartbreaker. I would expect Amelie to be waiting in the F, which should be quite "winnable" if Amelie carries on her trend in finals.

looking at one match @ a time, R1 is potentially tricky

Serena played Benesova in Fed Cup and her mix of spins and angles meant she held her own for a set or so.

GO BABY GIRL! :bounce: win another slam plz. thx

i think Serena's biggest test will be in the semis if she gets there aganist her sister Venus, but when Serena is determined and ready to fight, nothing is impossible for her, and she can very well win the 2nd slam of 2004

It's funny cuz sometimes after looking at the draws I get a feelin' like a certain player might be a little tricky. That's what happened at Rome when I saw Jen I got that same feeling. I'm getting a feelin' again, but this time it's a different feeling, it's a feeling like she's going to the finals... I wouldn't put much stock into my "feelings" and i definitely don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but if Serena is in good form and taking care of her serve (and all that "other" good stuff) then I can't imagine her not making the finals. I think her toughest match might come from a determined finalist...

Capriati and Serena seem to always draw each other in Grand Slams.

Roland Garros 2001
WImbledon 2001
Roland Garros 2002
Wimbledon 2003

and all of these were QF.

Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm....just as always the last player to beat Serena ends up in Serena´s draw again. Draw could be tricky, but this is Serena we´re talking about here. If someone is gonna beat her, they´re gonna have to earn it!! Hopefully she´ll give us plenty of quality matches and whatever happens, happens.

Well "we" officially kick things off tomorrow with Iveta Benesova as obstacle number one (of seven). Don't know to much about her or her H2H with Serena, but I'm expecting a routine win for Rena...

Best of luck!!!!!

Congrats to Serena, nice win. Did Maria Kirilinko make it through to face Serena in the second round? Things wont really get interesting until the fourth round.
