I don't know if this has ever happened before in history:

Usually when a grand slam considers using an injury protected seed, it is so that the top player is actually close to actual rank, (and so that they don't have to face other big names early).

Now - w/ Serena and Venus, (b/c of Kim out) - they would both be in top 8 for seeding, b/c they have improved their rankings to 7 and 9.

It will be interesting to see what they end up doing. The good news is that no matter what, they will both be in top 8 for seeding purposes. :bounce:
