... but only, possibly, as a TV commentator.

Viewer reaction to Anna's TV debut as an on-site reporter for USA network's coverage of the 2003 U.S. Open has been overwhelmingly positive. Her schedule would only allow three days away from her other commitments and her injury rehab, but those three days  :lick: were hugely successful.

"We were only able to get three days of Anna's time because of her busy schedule," said Gordon Beck, SVP Sports Programming & Production at USA network. "If the rain hadn't thrown the match schedule off completely, she would have been able to come back for a couple of days this week. Of course we hope that Anna is able to return to tennis competition soon, but otherwise we would love to have her working with us again."

============================

With Hingis working for Eurosport, the rumor mill has been circulating that Anna will be back at the U.S. Open and even possibly Roland Garros doing a short stint for ESPN or NBC, if her busy schedule permits. (Like, what the hell else is she doing?)

It would make the endless hours of the telecast of Roddick's matches much better if the Rocket were doing the analysis of his matches.

She literally stunk when she was working for USA Network at the US Open. Didn't they fire her?

She was really good when she was working for the USopen. I would love to see Anna in the comm.'s box! (they should have one of those split screens in that case; where you could see ANNA throughout the match)
Her reputation and viewership would go up quickly esp. if she did a good job comm.

Oh bloody hell get back on court, though I have to say an Anna/MArtina commentatary team does seem quite appealing.

Commentators have to be able to explain the mental aspects of tennis. Don't you have to understand that there IS a mental side of tennis to explain it? How can this work?

Cos if you've ever seen Anna play a close match you'll know what being mental is ;)

Boy, are Anna's worshippers gonna punish you for those remarks.

Anyway, if Marti can do it, why not the Rocket?

I'm for this... because the thought of Anna wasting any more with pointless filler than ESPN already does... may coerce me into not watching tennis anymore.

Dinar - I was just looking over the web for the shots (http://www.adsrve.com/linkredirect.php?h=41,21246650,wtaworld.com,1) of Anna at the ball game. Thanks for posting them.

Anna always seems to have her hands on some guys balls, eh? :)

Not too many people in the stands watching Anna. Guess she's not as popular in baseball as she is in tennis.

Poor Anna was so bad during her stint at USA Network that when she said she "felt bad" interviewing her "fellow players" they just let her leave. It wasn't a "firing" but they were very happy she chose to go.:tape: The girl was really BAD. And, I can imagine it was especially difficult do work like that when all her other "commitments" were piling up. I mean, laying on top of Enrique on a park bench takes a lot out of a girl.

Wouldn't f*cking Enrique count as a time-filler?:)

Shouldn't they get someone who actually knows something about tennis? Like how to win a title without another player on the same side of the court.

I guess they finally realized giving her a wildcard was a waste of time since she couldn't get past the first round.

I wish Pornikova would stick to what she does best. (And I won't speculate on what that is, but it sure ain't tennis).

Hmm, someone is in a rather mean mood today, eh? :(
