Also, it's only American athletes. Someone like Michael Schumacher would be high on the list.

That's the first thing I noticed. Fan or not that tells you how amazing the sisters are. People don't want to give them credit but what they have acheived is wonderful for women the world over. :worship:

Well ... I'm happy for Venus and Serena ... but what does that tell you that only 2 women are among the 50 most fortunate athletes in the USA? I think it's kindda sad frankly ...

The annual average income per head of population in Rwanda in 2001 was US$230. There are 8.9 million people in Rwanda. Serena makes more money than 76,000 Rwandan people combined

This money that they have kinda minimizes the petty squabbles people have on this board about whether their actually dedicated or not, whether they fake injury or not, or whether they are good for the game or not.

Child, I think it's too late for us (I'm assuming you're older than 12). But you know that my babies are going to be swinging as soon as they can crawl. Shoot.

What I find Outstanding is that over 80% of the people on that money list are People from African Descent.

There definately should be no question as to who produces the better athletes.

That may be so, but none of them could be considered "wealthy".

The man who signs Shaq's check is wealthy.

Noone said anything about wealth. We are talking about fortunate athletes and the ones that are the most FORTUNATE happen to be the most ATHLETIC who also happen to be derived from AFRICAN DESCENT!

Got it!

Most of the people on the list are basketball players and the majority of the money they get is from their outrageous salaries. Except for LeBron and Shaq, most of them barely have outside endorsements. (In Kobe's case, he only has Nike. Everybody else kicked him to the curb.)

On the other hand, for Andre, Venus and Serena most of their money is from endorsements. I think that shows how popular they are with the general public.

By the way, Venus has just signed with American Express.:hearts:

in case you forgot, the difference is because Serena's 2 majors, not because of endorsement, but I guess that's what you were referring to.

Outside of money made on the court, Venus makes a whole lot more money than Serena does. People forget her business is very succesfull, and call me crazy but something tells me she has better investment sense

I think its fantastic for womens sport that they have made the list and great that only one male tennis plater made the list. However we need a few more women on there before we truly have equality in sports. Tennis seems to be a long way ahead then most sports.

I remember reading that her Wilson's leather line was doing well...but where can I get info about her interior design company?

While it is great to see Black athletes (or anyone else for that matter) making good money from their efforts, it should be noted that most of their managers, coaches, financial planners, lawyers, agents, travel or wardrobe consultants, and whatever are mostly if not exclusively White. This means that a lot of White people are profiting from their efforts.

Venus is very marketable...

shehas Reebok, her racket deal, Venus Ebony Starr Interior Design Co., Wrigleys, her Wilsons Leather Line, American Express, McDonald's, she's featured in the Verb commercials, whirlpool (?), and soon maybe Amex am i missing anything?

I think she should be the spokeswoman for the Venus shavers/shave gel, it only makes sense.
