No wonder Marat Safin is so cranky lately: A) Here it is mid-May, and he's already played 34 matches. B) Check out who the ITF credits (http://www2.itftennis.com/PD/PlayerActivity/ActivityResults.asp?PlayerID) with defeating him in his first match of the year.

Now, I distinctly remember that thread we have in wtaworld this week, and guess what Jon took it and made it his own invention LOL

Discuss ;)

He also mentioned the city I live in! We had our tennis classes cancelled for this tourney...

College Tennis News: The BYU-Hawaii women beat Lynn (Fla.) 5-1 in Saturday's NCAA Division II women's tennis final in Altamonte Springs, FL ., and West Florida topped Valdosta (Ga.) State 5-2 to capture its first men's title. The victory was BYU-Hawaii's 101st straight dating back to 2002 and gives the Seasiders their third straight NCAA title and fifth in six years. ...

There's no doubt that he checks out this site. Why wouldn't you if you were a professional tennis writer? It would be negligent not to do so as part of your regular research.

And we do know that Anna Kournikova checked it out at least once, even if she was a li'l scathing about what she saw here.

I can't remember the detail. But in an interview some time back she referred to having checked out one or more sites like this to pass the time, and described a specific post about herself that closely matched a post on this site. I think her comment was about people who have nothing better to do than post in places like this, or some such thing. :hehehe:

Yeah, that post. You're a very naughty goil, Rocketta. I'd forgotten what the post actually said, but it was something about her wearing a padded bra, or stuffing her bra, when playing tennis.

Haha, that was really funny! It wasn't said what website it was but that was an awfully big coinky dink for it not to be this board when there was this long running thread going on about it.

His probably reading this thread right now

I don't know what the big deal is, with the emphasis on technology today, at least two thirds of the WTA's top 100 not only have visited this board but continually visit it for news/scores (this is the best source for live scores of lower tiers) and even gossip.

Remember that time several months back when the board was down for repairs on a Monday and Tuesday? And the Mailbag "just happened" to be delayed a couple of days that week.
A lot of players come here, as they did on this board's predecessors. So do a few tennis writers, but not so many. (The one that wrote the Kournikova article called it a "chat room", so they're obviously not tech savvy.)
But for those who do, it's C-H-A-N-D-A. No "R" in there. I know these guys are slow on the uptake, but she's been on tour for 15 years. That's enough time for even a tennis writer to learn how to spell a 2-syllable name.

Even a few tour officials visit. Remember when we discussed possible replacements for Hamburg? There was, if I recall, a lot of agreement on Warsaw. The next thing we know, Lo and Behold! Hmm, maybe we should revisit Anna's suggestion that players would be playing topless in the future. That would make it worthwhile to invest in a high-definippledefinition TV.

Well..how about the fact that this week Jenn, suddenly is called "The Capster"
by Werthless in his column. Isn't the moniker "The Capster" something that
the Jenn-heads at WTAworld enjoy calling? He wasn't calling her "The Capster"
before this week, right?

Anyway- he's been lurking and being a journalistic pirate for some years
now. It goes back to the CBS Sportsline forum, then onto the CNN/SI
tennis message board too. Bastard!!!!

We should start a really insane rumour and see if he picks it up
the following week in his column. ;)

I don't see what the big deal is About A Columnist Covering ANYTHING using material that's sent to him or her "ova The Transom", as we (I mean they) :p call it. Jon probably gets a hundred plus "tips" (and leaks) a week, from players, coaches, agents, TD's, and others.

If Its not "proprietary information" (and the ITF's UE wasn't for anyone except the ITF) :o It would look silly to cite a source for an offhand remark. (You think He'd Have said "As Andre Agassi pointed out....")? BTW, how'd you break my cover? (And "BS" stop calling "me" Werthless).
