No way. The Amelie of today is very different from the Amelie of that time. She's going to come on strong at RG. Watch out world!!! :bounce:

She's grown a lot in the mental department. At the beginning of the TB I would not have given a penny for her chances; I thought this match was Jen's. And look what happened.
Her arm does not tremble any longer.

I think its a toss up between Amelie and Venus ofcourse if they had played we would havee had better knowledge- Jen and lindsay come in joint 3rd!

I dont think that Jen is really a good example to compare with.

I dont think that Amelie would lose in the first round, I would give her QF atleast...

Amelie is #1 on red clay this season.
Venus is #1 on US green clay this season.
Vee is undefeated on both.

Vee is undefeated on both.

Vee is also pseudo-injured. 8-0 and "injured" vs. 11-1 and healthy........should be interesting

I am giving it to Amelie by virtue of who is beat. Although that loss to Schiovone does make a strong case for Williams

Vee is 10-0 and green clay doesn't count now??

It does, just like every surface counts...it's just different.

Relax, Knizzle. No one in this thread insulted Venus.

Now we just have to see how this affects Amelie mentally. The only two times this feat was achieved in the past (winning the German and Italian Opens) the winner also went on to win at RG. Fingers crossed that Momo can do likewise and get another monkey off her back. She must be going through incredible emotions now.

At this point, I'm not going to make any predictions about what's going to happen at the French Open.

Everything is up in the air. Amelie plays great tennis until she gets in front of the French crowd. Venus isn't a 100% and neither is Justine. Jennifer seems to be on track but that freak loss to Amelie last week makes her seem inconsistent. As for Serena, she needs more practice. I think that loss was good for her. It'll make her practice more and work harder.

Also, there are lots of dangerous players out there.

Huh?? *Knizzle reviews thread to see where he said someone insulted Venus?*

This is a discussion board, isn't it?? I was just giving my point of view.

I hope not! Slams are always more exicting when the best players reach the later rounds! Since Venus and Amelie are the best two clay courters this season, I'm hoping for a Venus-Momo final. It would be only fitting!

No because Jana Kandarr isn't playing anymore. (at least not on the tour)

This is going to be a very interesting slam, to say the least.

Amelie has won 2 Tier I events on clay and one Tier II Final.

Venus has won 1 Tier I event and 1 Tier II event on clay, reaching one other Tier 1 Final.
Close but Amelie has 2 Tier I events and has beaten Justine Henin on clay this year just before her getting sick. Venus has not had yet that much quality wins on clay, at least over great slam contenders for the title. And she has been taken to three sets by Sprem, Conchita, Reeves, Suarez, Zuluaga none of them huge or really top players who would certainly have a shot at a slam anytime soon... Venus still has a lot to prove on clay this year, it`s not her fault but she has not beaten a TOP 10 player on clay this year, yet she suffered another set back with her ankle injury, but on clay she has been second to one this year.. Amelie.

Stupid newspapers wrote "mauresmo is the great favorite !" etc...
I was sure they were going to write it, and they did it ! Big error !!!
They forget she's weak in mental department, she hates pression. I don't think it's a good think she won 2 tounments before RG, she arrives in Paris as the logic favorite, and she will lose because of that !
Sometimes confidence is not very good for a player, I think it's Amelie's case.
I hope she will win of course, but I'm not confident at all.

I think so.

I think Venus would beat her if they met though if that makes any sense :retard:.

But Momo lost to Schiavone and Davenport.
