Just look at the draw for the Australian Open in 2001...not that long ago...just over 3 years ago...but the number of players in that main draw who have now disappeared off the face of the planet is astounding (maybe not disappeared for some of them...but they sure won't be making any GS any time soon).

Katalin Marosi
Rachel McQuillan
Holly Parkinson
Angeles Montolio
Laurence Andretto
Andrea Glass
Amanda Hopmans
Sabine Appelmans
Pavlina Nola
Karina Habsudova
Maja Palaversic
Magdalena Grzybowska
Adriana Gersi
Silvia Plischke
Annabel Ellwood
Sandra Nacuk
Miriam Oremans
Jing-Qian Yi
Yvette Basting
Kristie Boogert
Sarah Pitkowski
Miroslava Vavrinec
Anne-Gaelle Sidot
Brie Rippner
Louise Latimer
Erika De Lone
Melissa Dowse
Greta Arn

Now, I know many of these players have simply retired...but still...there are so many...and this was just 3 years ago.

Maja got married to some really rich guy and has a baby :) she might make a comeback and she even played a 10K a few weeks ago and won a match... :)

Arn is still playing i believe...

Magdalena Grzybowska- Injury forced her out of the sport (knee I think)

Nacuk got fed up with tennis, had some injuries, got in slump and it was basically too much for her. She moved to Germany, played some matches in Bundesliga (or minor leagues, not sure). Now she's planning a comeback. She says she's in great physical shape and hungry for tennis. She will get a WC for a 10K in Subotica in 2 weeks. :D

Pavlina Nola is a tennis coach in New Zealand (if I'm not mistaken even Fed Cup captain)
