Would it be an upset. Looking at TeeRexx's poll...no one is voting for Justine...would it really be so surprising if she won...has this layoff made the fact that she has won 3 of the last for GS not even count?

If she manages to win RG with playing barely one claycourt-tourney (on it wasn't even the red dirt) where she wasn't even in state of playing, than I can only admire her even more :worship:
I've been very positive but I need to stay realistic and givin that Amelie ,Jen,Venus are playing great and Serena is 100% ok physicaly,it's going to get very difficult for J.But nothing is impossible,Justine is a true fighter and she said friday that absolutly loves playing RG.She feels like it's her own backyard so if she's gonna play it,I can assure she'll go for it 100%

Nobody has ever won RG without some kind of preparation ... so I think Justine winning it this year wouldn't be an upset ... it would be a miracle!

If Justine win it? It wouldn't be an upset, but I would be upset because Jennifer or Lindsay is not winning it. :)

Of course it would be an upset. The woman has not played for ages.

Actually 'upset' is the wrong word but you know what I mean.

Justine has not chance of winning this year's Roland Garros crown. Other players have had much better prep.

So it would deserve a lot of credit right? ;)

It did happen though. A player who was sick before the french open and also got the taxrazzia at her home the week before the tournament. Had not played since april either, had a bad back and her returning allergic reactions so she had to sneeze and clean her nose every minute (but she always did that at any place anyway, so that was no disturbing :p)

Sadly till this day many are convinced the player had no business to win because somebody who 4 tournaments in a row. (oops the player in question had the same stats but simply more allround) and she should have tanked a match were she was never behind outside in one game.

So I guess Justine should learn from this, but when she still wins by accident then in 10 years people will still claim that Amelie is the true winner even when she is beaten fair and square!

I was going to mention that player as well but decided not to because she'd at least won that clay tournament she played in April so maybe she had some preparation on clay - even if it was over a month before ;).

Justine hasn't even got that to prepare her.

Fair enough, I'd forgotten that Justine played Amelia island :o.

Still, why do I get the feeling you only had to check her but you knew the other off by heart ? :p

I refuse to vote in the poll that bashes players... starting with putting williamses in CAPITAL letters and saying all idiotic staff about every other one not named williams.

and truthfully, any FO winner not named williams is fine with me...

and to answer your question, Justine is #1 in the world, so I don't think it should be regarded as an upset (even though she was out for about 5 weeks)

It won't be an upset, per se...a slight surprise, though.

I don't know about 'not chance' but I think she has a chance. The only person who can stop her at RG is Amelie and we all know she's a headcase. Unless these two meet before the final Justine is so gonna take this.

Justine Will Win Roland Garros This Year!!!
You're right. Venus has a sore ankle. Serena's mind and body are saying yes, but her game is saying no. Jenny is a great fighter, but alas a bridesmaid. Momo is supertalented, but never brings it when asked to bring it on.

...so, unless Kapros sets up an ambush, I don't see anyone stopping Zhustine...again

Allez!!!

An upset... nope. Isn't Justine a champion and a defending one at that? Isn't it the job of champions to win

No she is number 1 and defending champion and won the only slam played so far this year. Yeah she hasn't played a red clay tournament, but she is so good on the stuff, the first couple of matches might be tough but once the tough opposition arrives she will be hitting the ball sweetly.

i think it would be an upset for the other players because of the simple fact that she hasnt had any preparation. sae with serena, because even though she is THE woman to beat, she hasnt had much preparation either.

hopefully they both go far.

Yeah I wouldn't Categorize it as an Upset if she Wins the FRENCH OPEN 2004..she's very awesome and Kimmie would said of Justine...she's the BEST Clay Court player in the World..so Justine is comfortable & able to Win the French Open without any RED Clay court Tournaments...She'll be just Fine - Thank U Very Much! Plus she's the Defendin Champion
