It's too bad Serena was tired. I bet her knee was probably hurt a little too. I'm sure she's shaking the rust off.

Have you seen the match?

6-4 6-4 is not a thrashing by any means espically when the winner was up 5-1 and barely pulled it out. Still nice win for jen to break the streak but momo will own her on sunday.

GET ready for the French serena! This was good for your FIRST RED CLAY TOURAMENT OF THE SEASON.

Don't make stupid noise about Capriati beating Serena who has not played
for almost for weeks after winning miami.
How many Capriati had won this year and in fact in her entire career.
When people are talking about people who play tennis and win big, she is not among those. Turned pro in the late 90's with just 14 titles--a little
more than five million, compare that to a turned pro 1995, 23 titles and
13 million. Get a life about Capriati winning this one and not getting the
title tomorrow.

Let them have their day. What's the big deal? You sound like a sour
loser. The Capster to my knowledge hasn't been going around giving
interviews proclaiming that the average American on the street
comes up to her and says she's the number 1 ranked player. The
Capster hasn't won a clean straight set match against top 5 players
in a long time. Sorry; but this is a BIG deal, and has big comeback
written all over it. The way I see it, she's a bigger contender
for RG now than Serena is.

That's not right, my friend. Jennifer has proven over the years that she's one of the few players outside of Serena's house that can consistently hang with Serena. Today, she finally had the little extra she needed to get over. After that "I'm still #1" comment, perhaps the Warrior Princess had this one coming. ;)

Did I ever anywhere on this web forum say that Justine was the
favorite to win RG 2004? No. I said it's wide open, and now give
and take everyone's form and injuries they are about equal with
Amelie and Jenn obviously a notch higher than Justine, Serena
and Venus because they are winning Roma easily. OK!

I posted in J-Time that JHH will have to do it on mental spirit and guts,
because the body won't be match practice tough. I also posted that
this year's RG will be tougher, and the winner will have just made
it and running on fumes.

I didn't say you said Justine was the fav, but something compelled you to say that Cap was a bigger contender than Serena, but you never mentioned that anyone was a bigger contender than Justine. Why is that??

As far as Momo and Cap being favored over Venus, if you hadn't noticed Vee is undefeated on the dirt with 2 titles. Neither Jen nor Momo has won a clay final. Momo definitely is playing very well, but is not a bigger contender at a GS than Venus. As for JCap, if she can't win a title period, how is she going to win a slam?? Hasn't been to a slam final since 2002.

Self belief is a magical mysterious tool. If the Capster draws Serena

Remember the Capster doesn't have a problem with the French
crowd? What makes you think she can't win at RG? I don't think
you can say it's impossible. As for Justine, she's got a couple of
things on her side against the Capster and that is that she won

For all you who don't know.. there is a difference in "FOR" and "FOUR".
I think you need to go to your comprehension again. I am not
talking about grammar because FOUR AND FOR are not
considered here for that. Serena has not played for weeks
and has not played four weeks are two different sentences.
And you can understand these simple senstences in you
know your comprehension well.
Not played for weeks, means may not play maybe two or
three, not being specific about the number of weeks.
And four weeks is obvious. four weeks are four weeks.
Who are you to check my grammar anyway.

On a day when a favorite wins, I would think fans would concentrate on that win, considering it's a positive thing not just for them but obviously for their favorite player. It boggles the minds why posts like this and some others are necessary. Especially when part of the underlying problem at this board revolves around people concentrating too much on other fans, and what those other fans say and think rather then on the pure subject of tennis and the players. Does this stop the problem? I doubt it. Does it add on to it? Probably.

Jen may only have 14 wta titles, but 3 of those are Majors (Frech Open to boot) and she is always a contender for a Grand Slam title when she is healthy. She also has a TON of records and is to be commended considering how far she has come since she was 13 and burst onto the scene. This was a great mental win for Jen considering how many times she COULD have beaten Serena in the past few years. Serena is a great champion and a win against her is a victory ANY player would relish. Best of luck in the Final tomorrow Jen!! :)

It's only sad that she is being torn down for it, and even sadder that for fans to enjoy her win they have to savour Serena's loss.

Jesus, no need to sound so xenophobic and racist! You one of those red neck army guys?

Just for the record, I am not particularly a Jen fan, but would like to see her win!

Dang Darren! I didn't know you were a red neck army guy!

:haha:

On a day when a favorite wins, I would think fans would concentrate on that win, considering it's a positive thing not just for them but obviously for their favorite player. It boggles the minds why posts like this and some others are necessary. Especially when part of the underlying problem at this board revolves around people concentrating too much on other fans, and what those other fans say and think rather then on the pure subject of tennis and the players. Does this stop the problem? I doubt it. Does it add on to it? Probably.

Whoa Machu - settle down a bit, would you? You're making WAY too much sense.

who's trashing serena????

all i have seen is a lot of capriati fans happy for jennifer. and a lot of williams fans saying the win is insignificant, doesn't mean anything, she will lose tomorrow, she will lose wimbledon, etc.

Here it is folks, the official thread buster. I'm not too high on Jen myself, but you've got to give credit where credit is due...

I'm very happy for her. I was afraid she would never beat Ms. Serena again. She's proven me wrong big time. I hope she will put up a better fight against Amlelie in the final than last week. Cappy hasn't lost a set so far this week and Amelie is also in her top form so it's gotta be exciting to see them face off. If Jennifer wins this, she will have as good a chance of winning the FO as anyone. Even though I personally predict Amelie to pull it off somehow, I'm so happy and irrated that Jannifer finally broke through against Serna. Having said that, I don't understand the starter of this thread. Does counting her out automatically mean we're haters? Screw you!

I'm not a Jcap fan,but she deserves congratulations on this win today. After 8 hard tries, she has finally triumphed!!!Let her fans enjoy this moment.I,ve certainly enjoyed the last 8!!!! Jen just got tired of Serena beating up on her,and managed to do something about it this time.I'm not upset, one of my favs lost...shit happens! No win is guaranted. You have to fight for it,and this time,Jen gave it all she had. However,i suspect Rena will try to avenge this loss at FO.Good luck to both!!!!!

you have put yourself in a dangerous situation here because if she doesn't perform in the final then all those people you have just directed your comments to are immediately going to come in here and say that serena lost the match and capriati didn't win it.

just enjoy her success and don't be so bitter.

you keep repeating that in all the jen threads that you are telling everyone to stop starting.

so what if jenny wins or loses against momo????? does that take away from today?? does that take away from jen's win today?? whoever wins the tourney, serena STILL LOST TO JENNIFER.

you sound like a child in the way you try to reason things.
Serena lost? Really? Thank Goddess you told me because I had no idea!

I swear you are such a fool. Is it ingrained in your genetic makeup or did you cultivate it with years of practice?

Did I say it takes away from her win today???? NO! A win is a win and I have stated that over and over in my posts on this board. Just like I stated that winning a match is not more important than winning a touranment when you are a elite player.

So what if she loses against momo? Well you certainly are a great fan of jens arent you?

So what if she loses to momo? I'll tell you what: she loses the touranment!!! But as a jen fan if its not a slam you probably dont care how she does.
