Hey people!

It's Eurovision Song Contest on 15th May :worship: and for a laugh I thought some of you would like to play a game where we get to be the judges lol. The idea is that a member from this board will be a judge for a country, and we will all watch the contest and decide on what countries we will give points to. It will work the same wasy as the contest does, so points of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 and 12 will be awarded, and you can not vote for your own country!

I would like all judges to post their votes here in this thread. Each judge must choose their top 10 favourite songs on the night, then rank these in an order with the most favourite at the top and least favourite at the bottom. Then points should be given to them using this system:

1st - 12
2nd- 10
3rd- 8
4th- 7
5th - 6
6th- 5
7th- 4
8th- 3
9th- 2
10th-1

Remember it is not allowed to vote for the country you are judging for.

When you are writing your post, you must do it like this for example:

Good Evening Istanbul, this is London calling with the voting results from the United Kingdom.

Spain 1 point
Germany 2 points
France 3 points
Ireland 4 points
Switzerland 5 points
Turkey 6 points
Romania 7 points
Russia 8 points
Sweden 10 points
Austria 12 points

You should list your votes starting with 1 point and finish at 12 points as this is how the real contest works.

You must not post your votes until the last song has been performed on the night of the contest. I would like you all to post your votes during the interval of the real contest, when there is a break after the songs and before the scoring.

The last rule is that you must post your results in English or French.

Sorry for having so many rules but it's more fun if it's like the real contest :)

List of Judges

:wavey: Andys, can I be the Oirish judge? Sorry Irish. Don't worry I won't do any Irish pronunciations ;) I have Irish born parents, so if that is enough to be in the football team then it should be enough here? If anyone Irish does want to be the Irish judge I will take any country that has no one like Monaco or something :)

andrew_uk
May 9th, 2004, 12:30 PM
Thank you Rothes for representing Switzerland. Please notice I have changed the idea of using MSN Messenger- just post your votes on the night of the contest immediately after the last song has been performed.

I am desperate to find judges from:

Norway
Russia
Iceland
Turkey
Romania
Sweden

If you know any WTA World members from these countries please let them know about this game! Thank you!

May 9th, 2004, 12:35 PM
Guys:

If you are not in Europe and would like to committ as a reserve judge- please remember that the contest starts at 9pm in Central Europe (8pm London time). You will be posting your results at around 11pm European Time (10pm London time). So for those of you in Australia, for example, the contest will be starting at 5am AEST. So please consider carefully before commiting as a reserve judge, or you will be getting up very early!

The official site www.eurovision.tv is broadcasting the contest live from the site, but it may not be a good idea to watch it on the site if you do not have Broadband. Alternatively, BBC Radio 2, a British radio station will be broadcasting the songs and you can listen to this station on the internet at www.bbc.co.uk/radio2

masha- will you be able to watch the Eurovision? You will have to get up very early. Also what is your connection to Estonia if you are in Australia? :)

Veera- Are you from Finland? It's just that you have a Noregian flag! :)

masha- will you be able to watch the Eurovision? You will have to get up very early. Also what is your connection to Estonia if you are in Australia?:)

hi, yes but im not sure if it will be live; it's on on 16th (this Saturday) ... is that when it actually takes place live?? Either way, do we really all need to be on at the same time? I'm just wondering why cant we just post them here anytime between say 15th Friday (European time) till 18th Sunday.
I have no connection with Estonia- i never thought it would be necessary to have one  ;)

Hayato
May 10th, 2004, 05:51 AM
i live in Australia too. i can get up at 5:00 a.m to do Ukraine.

andrew_uk
May 10th, 2004, 11:08 AM
masha- if tv coverage in Oz is showing the contest live, then it will start at 5am AEST on Sunday 16th May. I am giving priority to citizens of a country to be judges, so perhaps you could committ as a reserve judge, and if no Estonian takes part, then you can represent them. However do you have family or roots in any other countries competing? I would rather that people being judges for a country had some sort of link. Because I want this game to be realistic as possible I want votes to be posted during the contest after the last song has been performed. So that would be around 7am AEST.

Rosana_Fan- Great that you can get up that early! Have you got any links to the Ukraine? Or have you got any links to any of the other countries competing? I can put you down as a reserve judge, but as I said I am giving priority to citizens of the competing countries as I believe it is fair. If no Ukranian commits to this game before the deadline then you can be the Ukranian judge.

matthias
May 10th, 2004, 11:40 AM
if Monaco not Qualify i would like to be the irish judge
unfortunally i don´t have a family link to Ireland, and if you find another judge with a family link it will be okay
but if not i can be the irish judge, because i love Ireland

St. Sebastian- do you have any links to Iceland. The position of Switz judge is vacant again after Rothes withdrew.

Well, not except that I liked their fiords... but Poland was already taken and I would like very much to vote on Saturday :p
And as far as I know there are no Icelandic members here.
Will you let me?

I may also be any other countrie's representative :p

Macedonia & The Netherlands, shouldn't have got through

Now whas this bad or was it BAD? LMAO! There were maybe 3 or 4 songs I could stand listening too. Ukraine was a big letdown, not half as good as people seem to make out. Just a big eye-candy show. Albania and Cyprus were good, the Netherlands ok. Most of the rest was terrible. Now I see why Xandee has a chance to win
Ow btw, my mom liked Croatia :tape:

Rosana_Fan - your name is listed in the reserve judges section in post 1. I am giving priority to citizens of a country to be their judge, however, if citizens do not commit then I use reserve judges. The deadline for commiting is Thursday 11.30pm British time (tonight). So if no Ukranian commits before the deadline, you will be the judge for Ukraine :)

Bosnia-Hercegovina and Greece were really awful  and I mean real shit
Danmark was bad
Estonia was :topic:

Israel :rain:

Slovenia and Switzerland :ignore:

Macedonia was really really :armed:

Albania only qualified because they commited the first time. The song wasnt that bad but the girl doesnt have a voice

the Netherlands were ok. Boring song but ok

Didnt see Finland but didnt expect too much

They showed the songs from the final too

Max for Germany should win that easily the only song you can listen to without vomiting. UK and Iceland were ok too

Austria, Romania, Belgium and Russia should get ziro points for those songs

Belgium zero points, i agree it's a bad song, but it's almost the best of the bad (there was alot of applause when they showed the short piece). Ukraine isn't better at all, that song isn't that great. Albania was alot better than Malta IMO.

There was at least a little of rythm in that song but it sounds a bit familiar to me "Dshingis Khan" or something. Malta´s song reminded me on Mozart´s "Zauberfloete" Papageno and Papagena.

This song is really " beautifull " and I love it, and I can' t stop listening to it. Maybe my twelve points saturday night :).

I also really liked Albania :), and I liked Monaco too, Märyon was really pretty, and I love her light dress choregraphy lol ;).

Bih was simply ridiculous, but funny. I think he robbed the place of another country, he don' t know how to sing. That' s bad, I always like Bih songs the other years  .....

You and I agree 100% Nicoleke -except for one thing: the Greek guy wasn't quite good-looking, he was drop dead gorgeous. Only one problem - he didn't seem virile at all, he had the looks and the body but where oh where was the passion, the look that said, "get your clothes off NOW and be ready to fly"?

The Cypriot girl's voice reminds me of the Italian singer Syria in her early stuff like "Non ci sto" and "Sei tu". I also love the song.

Didnt see Finland but didnt expect too much
see, this is why we never win (or even qualify) ;)

Most years Finland really really suck and we hold the record for 0 point don't we?! That's why people expect us to be really bad and think we suck even when we don't really suck as much as many other countries. Plus, we don't have 20,000 neighbours who will vote for us (and those we have think we will suck too) so it's a hopeless case, a bit of catch 22; to show we're not that bad we need to get a chance but we will only get a chance if we can show we're not that bad.

I don't get why Finland is even entering this contest anymore, we should to a Italy.......

May 15th, 2004, 08:16 PM
