Men:
500m:
1 Casey Fitzrandolph (USA) - suprise!

2 Hiroyasu Shimizu (JPN) - "The Emperor" got silver after a bad season, so thumbs up!
3 Kip Carpenter (USA) - also surprising!

1000m:
1 Gerard van Velde - finally, fantastic, everything a champion should be!
2 Jan Bos - good.
3 Joey Cheek (USA) - well done!

1 Derek Parra (USA) - very good, but stupid action after his race :(
2 Jochem Uytdehaage - his only silver medal at these games

3 Adne Sondral (NOR)- I don't like him, but even I have to respect him for being 3th with that injury!

5000m:
1 Jochem Uytdehaage- :bounce:
2 Derek Parra (USA) - big surprise, very good
3 Jens Boden (GER) - completed the surprise at this stage

2 Gianni Romme- showed that he has character, not the superman he was in Nagano

1 Claudia Pechstein (GER) - 3th 5000m gold, impressive
2 Gretha Smit - in her 2nd 5000m since juniors :o :bounce: :bounce: everyone in the Netherlands loves her, and here she proved why!
3 Clara Hughes (CAN) - surprise!

And then I would wanna :sad: for Gerard van Velde (500m), Andrea Nuyt (500m), and Marianne Timmer (1000m) for their 4th places (so close!!!!), and :sad: even more for Bob de Jong, who collapsed during the Games and who is my fav!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures. The Dutch and the Germans were the best. as always.

I was referring to him skating with the American flag right after his race. He should have waited till after the other races. This was disrespectful to the others, and especially ti those who still had to skate.

irma, I know :sad: But she said it was an old injury (which is pretty bad I think, if toring a ligament is an old injury!), and if it wouldn't have happened now, it would have happened 2 weeks later, so maybe we should be glad it happened after her race! But I wanted to see her skate an allround tournament! :(
