As expected... I mean, Vera D wasn't THAT good! I saw her match against Stephanie Foretz at Sydney qualifying as well as against Ashley Harkleroad at the US Open on TV.

I think that clay is Vvera's worst surface, but she is still ok on it, she should have taken more than one game. I guess she didnt play well and Sveta was on fire. She might have a chance at beating Mauresmo and maybe winning the title!

thats not true at all.

First of all, she's just getting started. And second of all even if she wasn't, thats definately not true. Look at like 75% of men's players, and a lot of women players.

Now a CHAMPION does well on every surface, but a "good player" doesn't neccesarily.

There is a difference, no one said Douchevina would win Wimbledon.

plus, Kuznetsova was just on fire. She hit 37 Winners!

How is that possible?!

She has the biggest forehand in women's tennis.

I don't know why this girl is hyped so much.

Her serve is pretty bad. She doesn't have much weight on her shots, and she doesn't seem to be too much of a thinker, more of a reacter.

I definitely don't think she's a top 20 player.

Top 50 probably, but not too high.

Gone were the days when Douchevina beat Groenefeld 6-0 6-1..

Actually I think she has potential.

For a Russian, she has a really good serve. Keyword:for a Russian.
Her second serve could be better, but so could everyones. They bounce deep and low.
She is an incredible thinker, very light on her feet and reacts well.
Granted this is based on one match I saw, but still.
Her backhand is good, and forehand dependable.
Her power is medium, but she's a counter puncher....I as much in her as Zvonareva

Totally disagree.

The only good thing about her first serve is placement. She rarely if ever gets into the 100s. Her second serve is a definite liabilty. I would compare her serve to Dementieva's.

Thinker?? Nah, I say she is more of a reactor. She reacts well to what people give her, but she's not a chess player out there.

Zvonareva?? Sorry, although Zvonareva doesn't hit the ball as hard as many of the top players, she definitely puts more pace on the ball than Douchevina. I really don't see her doing too well, she doesn't have any real weapons.

Everyone in the top twenty has at least one weapon, Douchevina doesn't really have a weapon, and isn't a tactician out there like Hingis was.

I just don't see her doing much. The people in the top 20 just have too much game for her.

no surprise here... Vera doesn't even have a full time coach, whereas Sveta has a coach and smart people around her helping her career to take off.

Vera has all the potential, but needs a change in attitude. She's not a junior anymore.

Sveta's got more of an all court game. Vera the younger is still a work
in progress. Give it time folks- remember when Myskina looked really
hopeless years ago in the US OPEN with her very wonky serve, and
stiff game? What about Sveta? She did not look great last year; but what
a turn around this year?

Eggy must be proud of his girls. They learn quickly. :)

Maybe u saw her when she wasnt playing well. Players sometimes seem worse than they are when they're in bad form. I'd say she does have a decent serve, and her FH is a weapon for her.
