does anyone else think she'll pull out of Berlin next week?

Why? It's just so much.

Recap:

FCC
Fed-Cup
J&S Cup

Berlin would be her 4th straight week.

Nah, I don't think she will unless she has more leg problems. Venus is concerned about her ranking. Plus that's not alot of matches. She had 5 days of rest between FCC and Fed Cup and 2 days between Fed Cup and Warsaw. She will only play 4 matches here this week and a maximum of 5 next week. Then a 2 week break.

I love Venus as well...but i would not be surprised if she pulled out. If she played, that would be 4 Tier I tournaments she already played in. That is a lot for Venus before RG. I hope she plays though

She may; we'll have to wait and see.

Personally, I'd love her to play but if she thought it was too much that would be totally understandable. However I feel Venus is riding high on a wave of confidence right now; she's so thrilled that she won Charleston and is winning tough matches again she just doesn't seem to want to stop the rhythm she's in. But if she's tired, by all means she should drop Berlin; unfortunately she's not gonna play another tourney till the FO and I'll miss her playing those weeks.

It seems to me Venus is just so happy to be back on the court that she can't wait for her next match, to keep hitting those great first and second serves, practising her forehand, playing well.

I don't think she's so caught up in the rankings right now as to overextend herself. She does want to improve it but I don't think she's willing to risk serious injury to do it. She knows she only has the Wimby final to defend (since the others are minor) and as long as she continues to play well it's very likely that she will. After that it's all gravy, so I don't think it's the rankings at all, but just unspeakable joy that can only be expressed when she's on the court hitting those balls.

Go, Vee! I want you to sweep 'em all but if you don't I'm just happy to see you out there playing again and playing well.

Yes, it's a lot of tennis for Vee, and I think she will pull out.

But if she is feeling good she should keep going. She can only improve if she stays healthy. And there is a lot to improve. Especially getting better at the beginning of the matches.
Too often in the past few weeks has she gotten down and was forced to expand a lot of mental energy fighting, which can be as tiring as it is physically.

I think it depends how far she'll get in the J&S Cup this week.

I am all for Venus taking care of herself, because she knows best. HOWEVER, I don't think she's gonna pull out of Berlin! Fed Cup was only 2 matches! So that really doesn't even count. PLUS, she said so herself...she needs match practice and she needs practice on red clay. If she titles in both Warsaw and Berlin, it will be a lot of sequential tennis matches for her, but that's not a bad thing. It's good preparation to have two weeks of red clay in a row to prepare for a GS.

So unless she's injured, I see her in Berlin. It's nice to have her back and playing!! :bounce:

I couldn't have said it better myself.

If Venus played four straight days in Warsaw, I think she would not play in Berlin but she has the luxury of not playing tomorrow, while Amelie, Vera and Svetlana have to.

Fed Cup isn't a factor because she only played Saturday and Sunday and her wins were in straight sets.

And I don't think that its wise of her to play 3 Summer Hardcourt tournament in a row, especially if she really want to defend that Olympic title that bad, cuz I just think that playing 3 tournies in a row is just so bad for her ankle...

Hope that she plays doubles with Serena in LA instead.

I think she will otherwise that is 3 weeks of no play before the French and i doubt she will want to go into it being rusty. And like someone else mentioned it depends how far she goes. I say Venus and Serena switch...Serena in Berlin and Venus in Rome

Venus can't just pull out of a tournament because she doesn't feel like playing. If she is not injured, she will play. She knew she would play 4 weeks in a row when she made her schedule.
