How about people who haven't been put there due to injury...so Seles is clearly greater than those who are there based on their merits.

exactly... seles (who lacks a ranking altogether), kournikova (ranking???), and lucic who is barely hanging on to her decimal points...

are you agreeing that seles is the best ranked below 200 or saying that she is ranked where her play would have her?

anyway, are there any like 15 year olds ranked below 200 who have only been able to play a few events? bc they would be the next in gals

WhatTheDeuce

he meant she is there only because of injury.. ;)

If you don't have a ranking, you ARE below #200 on merit. But what you meant was, below #200 not counting Monica, which is okay.

Its crazy if you think about it that Seles is up in the 200's...Corina Morariu, Testud...all of who were at one point at the top of the game...I know Seles was a former #1...her ranking is only where it is because of injury...Morariu..highest ranking was 29 in singles...but it's awful now..never got past the 200's since she came back from her illness...Testud..I'm not sure about her rankings...but I know she was/is a good player..and was out because she had a baby...so her ranking fell.

Not counting those that have fallen in the rankings only because of injury:

Timea Bacsinszky (14 yrs, rank 276)
Viktoriya Kutuzova (15 yrs, rank 236)
Alisa Kleybanova (14 yrs, rank 391)

I think we will be hearing a lot more about these three next year.
