View Full Version : Capriati will win Italian Open

DannerCal

My prediction: Capriati will win Italian Open in a 3 set dual against a player that on paper should win.

French: She will make it to the Semis.

If I am right, I want rep points like you have never given me :).....

What does everyone else predict for her? :bounce:

oh yeah, she looses a nail bitter in the Qtrs of Germany.. This is where she gets her belief back that she can do it!!!

Her nemesis will be in Rome. If she faces her it doesn't look good. To make the FO semis she would have to beat Justine, Kim, Serena, or Momo in the QF. Jen will have to be playing some serious tennis.

Not a bad plan ;) As long as she doesn't have a run in with Eleni  I don't know what it is with that girl! Clay is her surface :)

Knizzle my fizzle - she will get serious. Criag K helps her with a better serve and her forehand will be on fire. :)

I think it's the point when everyone else stops believing in her that she'll show up and show you what she's made of. (re: AO 01)

LOL, OK. It would be nice for her to start playing to her potential.

Maybe two years ago, or around U.S. Open time last year i would've considered this, but not this year mi amigo!! Rome has always given her trouble because I believe she feels pressure to win her because she is Italian and the crowd expects a lot of her there. With the field in Italy(Serena, Kim, and Amelie mind you) I believe Jenny will find it very difficult to beat these girls(all have a mental advantage over her right now). The French Open will hopefully be stacked with talent, so Jenny will have to play unbelieveble tennis just to make it to the quarters. Good luck in Jenny trying though. I think Jenny will do the same thing Venus did and win a big tourney in the summer time(San Diego or Canada if she's playing). Jenny will come back to form by the summer. Don't worry!!

bad back, poor form, no time.

Tell u what - if she looses before the QTRS of the next 3, then yes you can give me neg rep points if you so desire.

Justine is not playing until F.O.
Kim will need some time to find her good form.

Jennifer is working hard. Think she will shine ;)

I still believe, and know what she can do when she really wants it!

I dont think your prediction is that far off at all.........Clay is a great surface for Jenny, and I think her return to top form is just taking a little longer, just like it took Venus a few tourneys to get back on top. I know she has been working really really hard on her fitness (because of the injury and knowing that she has fell a little here since 2001---plus Craig K is big advocate of top fitness---look what he did with Martina N when she transformed herself in the 80s) and that she is really wanting to make a go of it one more time since she is working with a new coach, letting outside opinions influence her game. Her game is there (we saw that at the FCC0 she just needs to get that confidence level back, and it will come.....

I think she has the potential to win the Italian Open but i predict she will go no further than the Qtrs of RG b/c of her injuries  but i pray she will do well. Good Luck Jen :)

nothing would make me happier then to see her kick some ass again-top players wins would really help her-lik agains a Henin, Williams, Clijsters, or even a Russian

I don't think she will, but it'd be great if this happened !!

I would say that she'll reach semis at Rome and quarters at RG !

I thought this was some kind of a joke thread. In the words of Johnny Mac, "You can not be serious!".

Jenn's winning days left a long time ago on the last stage heading west towards some Hollywood all-night-bash.

That U.S. confrontation against JHH was the last hoorah for Cap, so look for rep points elsewhere, DannerCal.

P.S. Danner, I will give you rep points for being loyal, at least.:)

Hey everyone who's a fan of Venus and thinks that Danner's just having faith, remember when people were telling you that you were just having faith. "She just isn't doing well" "She'll never get back in her game" "She's done for" "She's still injured"
Venus has been back longer then Jenny and she's just now getting back and into it and she's doing great, now let us keep our faith! Seriously! Think back!

I believe in Jenny :)

I dont go against Jenn, if she's FIT, she's one of the BEST players on the tour, undeniable!

Instead of giving me neg rep points if I am wrong, why don't you pit your fav player against jennifer and let's see if her results are better. The player you pick has to play Berlin, Rome and French Open. If your player has better results - I will call you King or Queen Harloo ( I don't know your sex - or preference for royalty status). If Jennifer does better than your player, I would like you to address me as Prince Danner for 3 months. Deal? :)

New strategies? How bout a strategy.

I hope Craig has her approaching the net more like he did for Mary during thier brief partnership.

I read something that said he wanted to build on her strong baseline game.
I am sure he will help w/ her serve - which continues to get better, but I don't really think at this stage of Jennifer's career she will do too much serve and volley tennis.
Maybe on grass she can mix it up more behind a powerful first serve, but not so much on the neutralising clay....

Jenn needs to get her forehand clicking again and then improve her serve and make her backhand into a weapon.

Who said anything about serve & volley? It would do her good to end points at the net though.

yes, I agree - it would do her good. Especially when she is playing someone who can hit w/ her and has younger legs and lots of power.
She could make it easier on herself by moving in and ending the rally.

Hmmmm. and some called me crazy to think she would even get to the QTRS in Germany. Now she has done even better than my original prediction for this event.

I'd be cheering my ass off for the excellent, charismatic, and rather attractive  Jennifer Capriati if she weren't playing my Amélie. As it is, my allegiances cannot lie with her, but...

Well, when I originally made this post a few weeks ago, I was feeling good about Capriati. Win or lose on Sunday, she has found her game! Kudos to you Jennifer!
Give Amelie a good fight and come out firing!
