the 4-year Williams sisters' lock on the Wimby women's singles crown is going to be broken in '04. Both sisters will be beaten at this this year's Wimby. You heard it here first.

Who is going to beat them?

flyingmachine
Apr 27th, 2004, 08:27 PM
I think is either the Williams or Justine. So the Williams has a good chance to win it again.

Figures that he made this thread and ran. No explanation, no prediction of who he thought would win or who would beat the sisters.

Actually we've been hearing it since Wimbledon 2003 ...

I know this sounds Arrogant with a capital A, but I truly believe that the best way to prevent a third straight Venus-Serena final at Wimbledon is to put them in the same half of the draw. Based on recent Wimbledon results, Justine ('01 runner-up, '02-03 semis) is the only one who could challlenge the sisters, because the sisters are the only ones who have beaten her there the last three years. The Williams sisters are, without question, the best grass-court players in the world until proven otherwise. ;)

.......Yeah right! If a seriously injured Venus Williams could get past the #2 player in the world....there's no way that they will lose. They've both said on numerous occasions that they love Wimbledon. They're just too motivated. I agree that the only way to prevent an all-Williams final is to put them on the same side of the draw, but who in their right minds would do that. Every tournament director who gets lucky enough to have both Williams sisters in a tournament, salivates over the opportunity of an all-Williams final. So....sorry it won't happen.

Have a feelin that Serena & Venus will be ranked 1 & 2 at Wimbly, why Wimblendon dont look on the current ranking system they have there own ranking system remember, Sampras who most of the time ranked 1 because of his performance at the Championships. So its another Williams Finals again :worship: :bounce: :bounce::worship: :bounce: :bounce: :worship: :bounce: :bounce: :worship:

I think they may end up in the same half of the draw, but that will not prevent whoever moves on to win the whole thing! Actually my money is on Venus to win the whole thing. She just seems like a totally different player on grass. Pity she does not play more tournaments on the stuff

I wouldnt rule it out completely - Wimbledon as an organisation is bigger than any individual player or pair of players. If they decided they had to arrange the seedings/draw in a certain way for the "good of the tournament" they wouldnt give a shit what the sisters or any player thought ...............

Hingis will win the FO 2006... Ivanovic the AO 2006... Davenport the TC 2006... Vaidisova the USO 2006You are a believer, because all of those are long shots. The only slight possibility is Davenport if she can find a way to avoid Venus who owns her on grass, Serena who owns her in life, Sharapova who is desperate to win another big! But no problem, you believe in your favorities, I guess.
