I cannot believe I'm talking about this lol:)
Winning 3 slams already, and Justine can still win the French Open again, with 4 slams and more surface-rounded, more weeks in #1, more Tier I titles, etc. etc.... I do believe Justine should pass Venus in greatness soon, like some have predicted;) Do you think she will?

Only Venus knows the answer.

it is possible but i dont think it will ever happen. justine will always have trouble beating big sis. hingisi has got more weeks at number1, more tier 1s and etc but she is not considered greater than venus. justine will have to start beating vee regularly like lindsay.

You don't consider Hingis greater as Venus at the moment?? I think venus has to achieve some more things to obtain Hingis status. Hingis was #1 for years and has more slams, I don't see how Venus can compete with that at the moment.

To answer the thread-question; It's posible, if it will happen, only the future can tell :)

Canadian,
In the mood for "important" polls dealing with Venus today, eh?

No.
Venus will win a lot more slams, if she stays uninjured.
Her present status does not reflect her ability and skill. She possesed the slam winning ways once, and she will get it back.
Christine is good, but she will burn out soon.
And that's a fact, not an opinion.
In FACT, she is ALREADY experiencing burn out. Her medical condition does not have to be the indication, her game reached a peak, and has been dropping I think.

This clay court season and Wimbledon will be an indication of where she REALLY stand with all the field presumably ready for action as of now.

Neither are as great as me. I'm at least 76'' taller than Justine.

<kind of off topic> I think Hingis' career at this point in time has to be viewed as a more successful career than Venus' career. Hingis has acheived more in my opinion. In terms of who has IMPACTED the sport the most- then it's not even close! The impact that Venus has made on this sport is enough to put Venus in the history books by itself. She has to be credited with expanding the sport, bringing in a whole new audience, influencing how the game is played, influcing how players prepares off court- conditioning, strenght training, etc... But I think Venus needs to win a few more titles and slams to have a greater career, even if a case can be made now, it's not a solid case and if she gets more wins in, which she will, then there won't be any question whose career is greater...

As for Justine vs. Venus.... Jutine's in Venus' boat and needs to do a lot more, at this point in time Venus is leading the way. When it's all said and done they'll both be fighting for the number 3 spot behind Serena and Kim...   (I'm entitled to my beliefs)

OK threadstarter, as I'm typing about Hingis and Venus you go and make a new topic on that subject...I can't keep up with you...

No, to me Justine still is the 3rd best player in the world. When Venus or Serena are healthy, Justine loses consistently against them.

is that why justine's h2h against the sisters last year is 2-2??

It's quite possible, though I don't know about it being likely. In fact, I'd say Justine could do it this year by winning at least two of the three upcoming Slams (provided Venus doesn't win the other one).

Venus greatness reflects her being slamless for more than two years now and counting.....

No, although she deserves it. It's just the fact that Americans always are more popular than for example the players of the smaller countries...No offence!

If Justine has to mark her greatness as successful only if it's put up against Venus then I suppose she will never be great.

I've not seen Venus play recently, so I'm not sure either way. My instinct is to say that Justine will win more slams but that she'll never be better because, after all, Venus always had more more potential and had she just played up to her ability, she'd have been better. Venus at her best is better than everyone, even if she never plays well, that'll always be the case and she'll always be better than everyone. ;)

Justine will overtake Venus if she wins at Wimbledon. Venus needs a slam on clay and then an Oz Open to stay in competition with Serena and Justine.

since the williams sisters seem to be the yardstick to greatness in tennis (especially Serena), how many times in the last two years have Venus beaten Serena??? Actually, how many times in the last two years have Venus defeated Serena and won a Grand Slam at the same time? Oh, that's right, ZERO TIMES!!!! And why should it matter that Venus has defeated Justine 7 times in 8 career meetings, according to your kind, Justine isn't even anywhere near the level of Venus so Justine shouldn't even have won that one match! So taking your reasoning, beating Justine isn't really that big of a deal, but beating Serena (which Justine has done 3 times over the last 2 years and something Venus couldn't do in 5 consecutive tries) now that's something that needs to be recognized!

Unlike you, I'll let the facts do the talking and not abrasive and childish name-calling.

LOL....I see once again you contridict yourself... I guess you are now using The Williams Sisters as a benchmark.

You're right. Venus beating justine would just be business as usual, same as it ever was.

why should it matter if venus is beating justine, according to you, justine isn't even on the level of the sisters so venus SHOULD be beating justine. so what about venus? well according to you, the sisters are the best players and are the ones who should be the measuring stick when it comes to recognizing the greatness of other players (whose fan was it who said that until the sisters come back full force then we don't really know the state of women's tennis?). and if this is the case, then who has venus beaten as of late? not a williams sister that's for sure. when these lesser players your kind wants to claim to be secondary to the sisters on the tour (henin being one of them) has done something venus couldn't do. since the 2002 US Open, Venus is 0-5 against Serena, Justine 3-2.

If you are part of the standard you aren't measured by that standard,
others are.

" Venus is 0-5 against Serena, Justine 3-2." and Venus is 7-1 against justine...so what's your point?

I just love when teenagers claim to know anything and state their opinions as facts

when they grow up they realize opinions are not facts.
