Which pairs do you see as being in the running for the rostrum finishes ( provided we know the pairs going of course ) ? Just got to wondering about this after Molik & Stubbs ran one of the favourites Kuznetsova & Likhovtseva very close today, 6-2 3-6 7-6 ( 9-7 ).

Provided they are fit, healthy & playing you've got to say Williams / Williams are likely to get gold. Kuznetsova & Likhovtseva look likeliest for silver based on results so far this year but aren't that far ahead of the pack. Who do you think are the pairs in the running ? I'd go for :

Williams / Williams ( USA )
Kuznetsova / Likhovtseva ( RUS )
Raymond / Navratilova ( USA )
Molik / Stubbs ( AUS )
Martinez / Ruano Pascual ( ESP )

Also outside chances for :

Mauresmo / Dechy ( FRA )
Sun / Li ( CHN )
whoever the second Russian pair is

I'd dearly love to say Arantxa and Anabel Medina, but we'll have to see how the comeback goes...other than them I think you've pretty much exhausted the realistic possibilities.

Waiting to see how Arantxa plays before deciding on her chances. I reckon though if she can get through to the latter stages she's got that kind of personality which could snatch a medal provided she can keep Anabel on track.

You can take Lisa/Martina off the list. With their luck, they will draw Williamsx2 in the first round and lose.

No, I have a feeling its in the stars for them to lose the bronze medal play-off.

I think they set up the draw so that teams from the same country are in opposite halves...but maybe I imagined that...

will the olmpics be seeding players considering that most of the patnerships won't even have a ranking?

That's even worse. I'd rather they lose in the first round then :(
