She is choking this match away against Srebotnik. She is playing all the wrong shots, and all Coriau can say is good idea. No Coriau, she is choking this match way. Be aggressive Lisa!! Lisa if you can beat Venus on a hard court, you can beat Srebotnik on clay!!! Lisa gets a break in the match, she misses first serves galore and misses easy forehands. Quit the slice backhand, it's horrible. Hit high topspin to Srebotnik's backhand!! If I was Zina, I would never have her on the team again!!

hmmm....I hope Lisa pulls it together....losing the tie because of her would really suck for Zina since she picked teams.

This wasn't Zina's fault, she expected Serena to play!!

Plus Lisa has no business losing to Katarina Srebotnik....thatīs the bottom line. Venus did her part. And if Lisa blows it in singles she better make up for it in doubles. Everybody is moaning and groaning about the Williamses not playing much doubles and stuff, but when they play they win....the same canīt be said of Lisa/Martina N.

Oh I'm not saying its Zina's fault. I'm just saying she will feel crappy cus this was a match up that on paper should have been taken by the US.

As far as who's to blame, no one really. Serena did withdraw...but Lisa is playing poorly.

We'll see...does anyone know the final score. Is it 2-2 overall for the Tie?

Exactly bandabou!! Although it appears that Srebotnik is choking a little now. Who knows who will win the choking battle, I just hope Lisa comes out on top!!

It's still 2:1 USA

Lisa is picking it up,
though she really should've won the 1st set as well,
she had her opportunites! However, no complaining,
she fought back in the 2nd and hoepfully takes the third!

What's with all the Lisa bashing? She is ranked #29 in the world and lost a reasonably tight match yesterday on her least favourite surface to the world #32, Pisnik, who was on her favourite surface. It's a hardly a shocking result.

Equally so Srebotnik is a clay court specialist ranked #63 with a clay WTA title under her belt. There's no reason why she wouldn't be giving Lisa a match at home.

Srebotnik ISN'T a clay court specailist!!!!!!!! Grass is her favorite surface. She serves and vollies on the grass. And Corina Moriau won a clay court title, what does that tell you? Lisa isn't losing because she is being outplayed, it's because she's CHOKING!!

Well I suppose I shouldn't have listened to Kata when she told me at Wimbledon last year when I was chatting with her before her practice that her favourite suface is clay. I suppose I should have known you would know better than her which surface she enjoys most

She's down a break 2-3 in the 3rd, hopefully Zina and Billie can restore some confidence in her...

Well I hope she enjoyed the beating Venus gave her yesterday!! Srebotnik can't even win 4 games on her "favorite surface"!! She may enjoy clay the most, but I would rather have her on a grass court if i wanted a win from her!!

(Oh yeah, did you like that beating that Venus gave her last year on grass too!! What's Srebotnik's record this year?)

Is it too late to change the doubles team? Can Venus play doubles with Navratilove or are the doubles team set at this point?

Actually I did. It was 6-4 6-1 and as I'm a Venus Williams fan it was great to see her playing well. Katarina seems like a nice girl from the chat I had so I was happy to see her play a good first set but pleased Venus got the win in the end.

Sorry, I didn't know!! Oops, my bad. I'm fuming with Lisa right now!! Venus is my favorite player. I don't like players who can't play well on the tour, but then come up with their best tennis against the U.S. in Fed Cup!!

I don't see how Serena can be blamed if she has a sore knee.

BTW, Lisa held to lead 5-4 (she broke when Katrina was leading 4-3). If she can break again, the US will win, but she will probably not play doubles as she has been out on the court for almost 2:30 hours.
