No disrespect to K-lina, but Flipper lost a lot of time (and WTA level "match hardening") to her injury early this year. Its way too early to evaluate her, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. I know clay is not the favourite surface for Els but she's got the experience.
I'm not saying she would have won but maybe it would have been a match.
Hope Flipper will quickly forget about this match.

i think the belgium captain put kristen in a bad situation. this was one of the biggest matches of her career and she was playing for her country. else would have been a better choice because of her match experience.

K-Lina played a great match, a lot of great winners :) Too bad for Kirsten, all went too fast for her. :sad: Don't think it was a bad decision to let Kirsten play though, I'm sure she will learn out of this.

Yes, and besides, it was a risky, but well thought choice by Van Aken (coach).
K-Lina doesn't lik ehigh topspinballs, but she loves flat strokes. Kirsten's game is naturally (much) more of a topspin game than Callens'. That's what Flipkens tried to do. Give her high topspin balls. Sometimes (sometimes ;) ) it worked, but most of the time K-lina was far too good. Flipkens was always a step too late and too far behind her baseline.
I don't think it was a bad choice! I only hope Flipkens doesn't feel too discouraged by her performance. We all gotta adit. K-lina is definetly top15 (at the least!!) material! Her serve ( :eek: ), her groundstrokes, even her 'touch' from time to time! She's really good!
