tomorrow i will play in County-Championships
it is the first time i take place, and you don´t need to qualify for it.

each year just 14-16 players sign in. and our club-president said he would be happy if few guys from our club would play.
so me and 3 other guys from my club signed in.

the whole week i was looking forward until the draw is finally out, because i knowed there are few other weak players in the draw (like me)
and i was full of hope to get one of them.
this morning i opened the sport-part of the local newspaper and there was the draw. i have to play #1 seed and defending champion, and a small-report said he is top-favorit again.
he and his team is playing 4 or 5 devisions higher then me and my team
and so i hope i can win at least 1 game.
all i hope is i can hit few good balls, and then my Nancy/Dewonder-Spirit will help me to survive.

i will report about my match tomorrow, here in this thread :wavey:

wish me luck, i will need it.

Its never over till its over!

But the odds don't sound good from what youre saying, so why not take a tip from the pros.......

get a conchi regimen going before each point and take like 10 minutes before each serve , drive your opponent mad. Or failing that, maybe do a patty thing and start hiding the balls in your clothes till there are none left and they have to declare a draw

Good luck!

Hmm, naughty advice but just might work. You should seriously consider it. I know I would get distracted by that.

Bounce bounce, tap tap, more bounces and more taps....oh, may 3 more on the left one just make it more luck.

LOL

Matthias :awww:

LOL the same happened to me last year. Played Kreismeisterschaften (you too?), won a round  and then played the top-seed and lost 0-6 0-6. Had a few game-points though. :(
But I hit my best backhand ever in that match. Screaming DTL winner. :D

But they usually have a B-field for the weak players. ;) I have reached the final there before so maybe I will play that one again this year. ;)

I know that. I played "Kreismeisterschaften" as well last year and had much luck with the draw so I could reach the semis without facing a seeded player. This year I will be seeded but I won´t survive because I already withdrew from my prepare tournament where i was the defending champ in the semis..... I hope to win one or two matches!

I played the "Verbandsmeister" this winter and thought "Just one game please". But I had my best day ever and played some unbelievable shots to fall 6-7, 3-6 on my preferred surface. OK, he didn´t play well but I kept fighting and this is what u should do as well. U are not expected to win, so don´t put any pressure on u. I had it in the first set as I got one set point, but after that I still concentrated and never gave up! Don´t d this mate and I´m sure u won´t get double-bagelled.

Viel Glück und du packst das Kumpel! :)

hmm this happened to me matthias!...im really good though, im usually seeded highly but when i was playing someone that was like PRO.....the best thing like they said to do is confuse and keep him guessing....he likes to hit his shots so dont let him...take ALL ur time.....mix it up...hard, slice, moonball....and always go for ur chances......after u feel he is dazed u play ur game and focus on winning :)

I've never been double-bagled before. Years ago, I did lose my second match ever 1-6 0-6, after breaking for the first game of the match.

Good luck. ;)

Good luck.

I've been double-baggeled last year in 24 minutes, in the semis if the local tournament and i was seeded 2nd, lost to a guy 6 years younger  Don't ask

I see a lot of underhanded serves in your future :tape:
I can recall two occasions where I won 1 point in a match, but I was a good player, I just wasn't good on big points. It's been 2 years since then, and I beat those guys now on the regular. So, don't be afraid to lose love and love, let it motivate you to get better and compete better with these guys in the future. Good Luck!!

In my defense, I've handed out a lot of double bagels and have come back from being bagled in the first set to win matches on more than one occasions. When my game is on it's difficult to beat me!!

few years ago they had a B-field for the weak players, but since the interest get lost they have just one field for all. in women competition just 6 girls entered

One point at a time, one game at a time, one set at a time....you'll be just fine. I'm sure you'll have your opportunities just remember to be very opportunistic on any and every chance you get to close out a game. If he's as good as you say and if you're not as good as you claim I still think you can eek out a couple of games each set.... GOOD LUCK!!!

(just pretend you're Serena Williams out there that should help....)

i lost 1:6 1:6
but my opponent was really friendlay, and not arrogant at all (not like few toher player there)
both games i won have been breaks - lol
unfortunally there was a embarassing moment for me in the match
it was 1:4 or so
as he played a great drop-shot
i reached the shot with my fighting spririt ;)
and played a drop-shot too
he got the ball and passed me, but he passed me without power
and so i tried to reach the ball again
i strumled.......and felt.......and laid with my whole body on the court.
must have been funny to watch, but not for me

later today i had to play looser-round (all 8 1st round looser are in this draw)
and i had to play a guy same age then me, but i lost again
1:6 7:5 2:6
my shots have been to short, and so it was easy for him to kill them from T-line
second set was better, but i was already up 5:2 before hecam back and i really thought i will loose the set 5:7
but i broke him, and served it out.
in third set i missed few BP to come back and so he served it out.

i´m very happy about the fact i had to play this guy in looser round and not one of this local prodigy kids, because on the court next too me a 14yrs old boy killed a 24yrs old men. i´m happy it wasn´t me ;)
and i really felt sorry for this guy

2 of my Team-Mates have reached the SF (both upset players from higher Divisions)
great success for our small Tennis-club to have 2 players in County-Championship semifinal
and so noone will care about my 2 lost matches ;)

thanks for all your support

matthias:D Losing 1-6 1-6 is not that bad! It's great to hear that you have the kind og fighting spirit, I laid with my whole body on the court too and I lost that match too. But I enjoyed my time there and I felt so happy for what I have learned. Congrats although you lost.:)

i finaly won a match against an older, experienced top club player here :) ...i won matches against other juniors like 7/5 in third, always struggled....its TRUE ...the one thing that is the most important thing in tennis is the SERVE!

i used to have a big serve then it disappeared so i just spun my serves in at like 50 mph lol..ig get crushed and could never hold serve...id usually break

now i imporved my serve dramatically..i have nadia petrova/ serena williams serving motion and i crack like 120 mph..its amazing!

......anyways i was playiing him with confidence in my new serve...and everytime i got in first serves (76%)..it would be a service winner or an ace...i held serve and broke his..first time it wasnt 2/2 ..or 2/3 down for me..i led like 4/o and its true...u need a good serve and u have to hold your own serve....i won like 6/3 6/4 :)...i started choking in set 2 but i managed

my groundstrokes are really powerful, i had like 21 fh winners and 10 bh winnners...hope i can keep it up.remember ...FOCUS AND TAKE UR TIME
