D.C. INVASION

DREW Barrymore will have a camera crew with her at the White House Correspondents Dinner on May 1. The "Charlie's Angels" producer is doing a documentary on America's voting process. But her camera will be banned from the Bloomberg media company after-party on grounds that it wouldn't be fair to those who have been "over-served." The night could be more star-studded than ever with Ben Affleck, Meg Ryan, George Clooney, Drew Carey, Minnie Driver, Mary Louise Parker, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Candice Bergen and daughter Chloe Malle, Anna Kournikova, Serena Williams, former POWs Shoshana Johnson and Jessica Lynch, "L Word" beauty Karina Lombard, New England Patriot QB Tom Brady, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters and Jimmy Kimmel.

The correspondents to the White House give the dinenr and Washington and Hollywood get together. The funny thing about the dinners when a Republican is in the White House is that most conservatives in Washington claim to detest Hollywood and celebrities in general, but ar the first ones to get in line to meet a celebrity when they see one.

Her wins are in the past. She hasn't played great tennis for years, and probably will not return to the sport despite her entreties otherwise, so she is not being invited because she is/was an athlete. She is being invited because she is Enrique's girlfriend.

Actually the White House dinner is a big deal. How often do celebrities get to meet the president of the United States?

Nah, you don't have to be a Republican, but you do have to have that famous quotent. The Osbournes went a couple of years ago and they aren't even US citizens, so they don't have the right to vote.

Karina Lombard plays the uber-sexual "Marina" on Showtimes "The L Word". I'm gay, but she's sooooooo hot that I'd do her!

(She's even my current desktop wallpaper)

Shotime bio:
KARINA LOMBARD ("") (Marina Ferrer) moved to Barcelona at an early age, then lived throughout Europe and later in New York where she began modeling, dancing and acting. She has appeared on stage in "Uncle Vanya," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Summer and Smoke," "M. Butterfly," "Joan of Arc," "Betrayal" and "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea." Lombard has also been seen in the films "The Firm," "Legends of the Fall," "Last Man Standing," and "Wide Sargasso Sea."

I don't get where you think she is Enrique's ex. Go to any Anna site and there are tons of recent pics of them traveling together while he finishes his tour.

They are celebrities. They can eat free anywhere. They don't need to go to a White House dinner for a free meal. Honestly, that doesn't even make logical sense.

Highlights of the White House dinner is always shown on tv and there is always tons of press involved. That is one of the reasons so many celebrities go.

Few celebrities are invited to the White House Chirstmas party because they limit it to politicos. And the Easter Egg hunt/roll almost never have celebrities and since GW has taken office, he has not been at the White House to attend the Easter Egg hunt/roll because he is too busy at that ranch of his.

Nothing you are saying makes logical sense to me. Celebrities, by virtue of their fame, get tons of freebies whereever they go because it is good publicity for that store or restaurant that so-and-so shops or eats there. So, the celebrities for the White House dinners are not going there for a free meal, they are going for the panache of being invited to meet the president and to get some free publicity. Besides with all the money that celebrities make, it is not as if they need free meals.

No, I don't remember who goes to the White House for celebrity visits. Does that really matter?

Celebrity visits are almost never announced by the White House because celebrities get a private tour. Years ago, when TV producer Aaron Spelling, his wife Candy and their children Tori and Randy were invited to the White House for a priviate tour by then-President Jimmy Carter, the public didn't know about it for years until Aaron Spelling talked about it in a interview.

A side bar to celebrity White House visits. One celebrity and his wife were invited to the White House a few years ago for a visit, the Secret Service did a background check on both and found that the actress was actually 10 years older than she said she was and husband was said to be shocked.
