I kind of wish that she just lost that tiebreak. Then we could all be like good fight, etc. But now it's like she gave up. Oh well. What a freakish scoreline.

I've gotta think that fitness played a major factor in that result. Somebody said Mirjana looked like she was in shape, but there's a difference between LOOKING in shape and BEING in shape. Just because she lost weight does not mean she can sustain her level through long three set matches.

It was a good effort from Mirjana considering she hadn't played a match in 8 months, and she had a nice rebound after the first set debacle. HOWEVER, there is still a looonnggg way to go. Clay is Melien's worst surface, while it's Mirjana's best. Melien has had an attrocious year ever since Auckland as well, and an even worse three set record...she's lost her last six in a row. To get bageled by Melien, let alone twice in a row, is quite an accomplishment as well. I don't think Tu has done that in ten years on tour.

Why 6/7? It looks strange between 6/0 and 6/0.

croat123, it is a strange score but there was a similar one a few years ago in the final of the National German Championchips when Sabine Hack beat I forgot who it was 6/0, 2/6, 6/0.

As if they lose concentration in the second set but it is interesting how they then can manage to win the final set that easily again...

 WOW ..WHAT A SCORELINE! Well..atleast Lucic got her feet wet again.. she should play a few more of these ITF 50/75 K types..maybe even a 25k or two to get her confidence up ;-)

Clay is not Lucic's best surface. :haha:

The fact is that Mirjana is a power player through and through.

When she plays as infrequently as she has been doing, its inevitable the ball is going to go straight out of the court, but if she plays 50k's week in-week out, eventually, those balls are going to go in the court - and thats when she will start making progress. :)

Well, it seems like mirjana was trying. But Tu is a solid player, and it's never easy to make a good comeback, especially if previous results were baaaaaaad...

You know, it would be a different thing if mirjana had played well before she desapeared couple of months ago, but she didn't, so it's obvious she needs to change her game. Or/and improve it. And no matter how hard she might be training right now, it means nothing if she doesn't play proffesional matches.

That means she should play at least 10-15 tournaments this year and then, hopefuly, she might get close to top100. In my opinion, she shouls start with smaller tournaments, even 25k, cause at the moment it's important to play, and even making it to the 2nd round of a 75k means less then 3rd round of a 25k. It's not about points (frankly, she doesn't have a lot to defend... :o ), it's about being on the court and being in a match at least 2-3 times in a week...

Better luck next time! :D

...I guess after the effort of the second set she just ran out of gas, physically and/or mentally...she's committed to a $25k qualifying so hopefully her next match won't be so tough, and she'll get a few wins and some confidence under her belt... :)

No way she was going to win any match in a 75K after being out so long. If she is serious about her career she should start in lower tournaments like 10K or 25K, and then work her way back into form. I think just the fact that she stayed out for so long and only came back to save herself from dropping off the ranks shows she isnt interested.

How can your best surface be one that you've only made the round-of-16 once on in TWENTY-SIX tries?

It all depends on how you interpret it though, there are some matches on hardcourt I would call good performance, e.g. 3 set loss to Amanda on hardcourt. However, her game is suited for grass, there is no doubt about it. Was Kim a better indoor player or a better clay player? Indoor for sure, but her results on clay should not be taken away, and not to mention her grass results. Talents can be translated on all surfaces, some better than the other, same goes for Lucic:).
