View Full Version : My advice to the players here who suck and keep asking for help...

I keep hearing things like "I make too much errors", "I suck in tiebreaks", "I choke", "I don't know what to do, help me"

I've won championships in the USA, not on the Atp tour because frankly I don't like to travel much so I don't want to join them. However, I will try to give you all some advice about playing tennis because I see a lot of posts about players begging for help because they suck so much on the court.

-First rule of tennis:
Look your best. If your opponent sees you wearing top notch clothes, with several rackets in a beautiful bag, new clothes and shoes, you will already have an edge on them because they will say "wow, he looks as if he's good". When they see you like this, they will already start being intimidated and getting nervous. You also have to walk with confidence and look at them as if they are not worthy to look at. But if you show up with old t-shirts & shorts with a racket in your hand and nothing else, they will already think that you are not too good and that you probably play tennis not too seriously.

-Second rule of tennis:
You should do exactly what they DON'T want you to do. Play mind games, get in their head. If they tell you, can I please have the ball? Instead of giving it to them perfectly like some loser while they stand still and the ball lands directly in their hand, you should throw it to them but a little far away that way they have to run to catch it. Make them work. They will get tired both physically and mentally. Show them that you are the boss on the court and that you are not their servant. They want something, they have to work for it. You are NOT mother theresa, don't be perfect. And if you want, stare at them several times between points and spit from time to time because it's intimidating.

Those are the first 2 rules of tennis. I'll be back tomorrow for other rules, but for tonight, you can all read and memorize what I wrote. By the time I'm through teaching you, you will become unbeatable.

Like Conchita, I insist on playing with the ball I won the last point with. It pisses my opponent off, and usually screws them up more than me. :)

although that doesn't work when you're only out there with 2 balls... bc you need bith at the beginning of every point anyway.

but good strategy if you're given three or 4

whenever i get a ball the person needs, and they ask i will hit it over and they have to run to the otherside of the court, i also take my time serving when its windy, it makes my opponents so mad

Yes I take forever between points also. It's great to watch them get pissed.
