Question one: What would Serena have to do to qualify this year as a successful year for her?
Question two: If she can only win one slam this year, which one would you like to see her win most?

1. Since Serena has always made the slams her main focus, I think if she can win one slam this year then this year has to be viewed as a success for her. So my ultimate goal for her this year is to win one slam, anything after that is icing on the cake.

2. If she can only win one slam this year then I hope she wins the US Open. I was going to say the French at first, but because a lot of players are dealing with injuries, if she did win people would just make excuses and try to dismiss her win. So I hope she wins the US Open, that should be enough time for everyone to hopefully be healthy and there wont be any excuses.

1. well i'd be happy if she could manage around 12 tournaments, keeping healthy and winning a few titles on the way. however, for her, of course it's the slams and i don't really like her losing in them, so i'd be sooooooo happy if she could win another slam.

2. i would like her to win Wimbledon, cuz it's my home slam, and she would be the #1 grasscourter on tour without arguments. :)

1. I'd like to see her end the year in the top five, but I agree with everyone in that winning one slam would definitely make this year a successful year.

2. Well I want her to win two of the next three because I'm greedy, but if she can only win one I would like for her to win Wimby. She's won the last two and I want her to keep going so that one day Wimbledon will be synonymous with Serena!

1. I'd be happy if she's 100% healthy throughout the year. We all know if she's healthy, more than likely she will be playing well. If she wins the same number of slams and tournament as last year I call it successful as 2003. To go beyond that, I think this year would be more than a success if she looks to actually IMPROVE her game instead of staying at a comfortable level. She needs to take it up another notch if she wants to come back to the top and remain there, as we all would like her to do!

2. If Serena wins one slam this year, I'd be happy. Naturally, I'm rooting for her to win the remaining slams of the year. If she were to win only one slam this year, it would be...Wimbledon. Three straight Wimbledons is a tought feat to pull off! Venus almost pulled it off but was stopped by Serena. It would be another notch on the belt of Ms. Williams. After Wimbledon, I would pick the French Open. She would shut the naysayers up. Winning over Justine would be icing on the cake. :D Lastly, the US Open. It would be great if she could win the US Open a third time! But Wimbledon is my top pick!

Everyone always wants their favorites to win Wibledon, why? There's always so much hype with Wimbledon. I guess its becuase of the long history and tradition. I wonder which slam Serena thinks is more of an honor to win. I thought I remember her once saying when she was little she wanted to win the US open and Venus always wanted Wimbledon. I might have it mixed up. The only good thing about winning Wimbledon is that it would be three in a row and I do like the sound of that. I still say US Open as my first choice but I pick Wimbledon as my second choice. I also would like for her to win the year end championships, it's a nice way to end the year. One gold medal in the olympics would be pretty nice as well. Hell, I want it all!

yea she did say that when she was little she wanted the USO but she said she wanted to be part of such prestige and history that is wimbledon :D so i think that's her fave slam now.

like i said, wimby is my home slam, i'll be heading there this year to see her again :D and i really love her being here.

1. I would love for her to be No.1 again. :P OK. That's a little greedy. I think as long as she is consistently in SFs or beyond in tournaments, and she wins a slam or two, her year would be considered successful.

2. Definitely Wimby. It would heighten her "aura" on grass.

Question one: What would Serena have to do to qualify this year as a successful year for her?

I would definitely want her moving up in rankings. I really hate any number other than one for Serena, but having her move up in rankings not only solidifies the fact that she's on her way back from injury on a tremendous level, but also that she's winning.

Question two: If she can only win one slam this year, which one would you like to see her win most?

Dang.

Well I want her to regulate at this year's French Open because of last year's unfortunate circumstances, but I do have a major liking to the US Open as well. The US Open on this coin flip.

question one: Just by playing and giving us some nice matches...that´s already a success. Of course if she stays healthy and can manage to win 4 or 5 titles would be great.

question two: Wimbledon...definetely. She already joined steffi as the only three straigth times winners of Nasdaq, now adding Wimbledon would be even bigger. Plus that would stop all the talk about Serena not being able to defend and stuff.

1. Just to stay healthy, produce some good matches and quality wins, and show she is still the best, also win a few tournaments
2. If she only would win one grandslam this year, i would want it to be the u.s open

1. To win at least 1 slam and win 6+ titles and be able to play all the way through the YEC.

2. I want to see her win the U.S. Open so everyone will know that she is the best hardcourter and that a certain Belgian won solely because of her absence. Plus she can gain tons of points here.

1. Stay healthy and let me enjoy seeing her play and win a couple, two, three tourneys.

2. Roland Garros to take the crown away from the disease ridden yellow tooth heifer better known as Justilyin Henin-Heifer-Hardenne, and if that's not possible, the US Open to show people that Justilyin only won because she and Vee were not there.

You think there was any doubt about that after the Wimbledon semi?!

(progress check- so far) I think we can agree... so far so good for Rena.

The French is coming up and I'm really excited cuz I got a really good feelin' about things. As long as she can stay healthy I'm confident everything will fall into place and the results that would follow would be results that we as fans would consider a successful year...

Well... we're now at the half way mark through the grandslam year and Serena's been back for more than a third of the first half. I do believe she will now be exiting the top 10 (not sure,) for the first time in a while. I think for this year to qualify as a good year she would need to finish in the top 5 and win at least one slam (if not a slam then definitely the year-end Championships). Obviously the best she has to give for this callendar year is still to come. I'm sure the second half will be a lot better!! I'm still gunnin' for that "one" slam to be Wimby. For all those that picked the French as the one they most wanted to see her win, I'm sure you'll find Wimby just as sweet a win.

Not bad, not bad....the rain-delay really hurt Serena against Jen. Serena was EN FUEGO in the second-set, but then in the third she seemed to have a problem. Her slam will come...she´s just ronding in form and I think this loss may be just the push she needs to really really get mad.

To me it would be for Serena to win Wimbledon or the US Open or both. She would also to need to beat the top players the ones who aren't injured right now.

I really want Serena to win Wimbledon because it would be her 7th slam and she would keep it in the Williams family for the 5th straight year. I also want her to win Wimbledon to continue to prove to the the rest of the tour that Wimbledon is the hardest slam to win which is why there aren't that many different winners of it unlike the other slams.

So do we think Serena is having a good year or a bad year so far?

It's not bad, more disappointing, but she is a walking timebomb right now. She's making finals and is very close to breaking through with a big win. I want her to make the finals of the Olympics and US Open and take her chances there.

Hmmm..not bad, three finals, bunch of QF´s, not bad. It´s just that her play in the finals has been below par for her...but I guess her match-toughness is gonna come with time.

Well Serena's comeback is good for a player that came back after an eight month layoff ...she never lost before the quarter-finals and made it to three finals...its just that she seems off during the important matches...this is due to the injuries coming back at the worst of times
She still has time to make this year a success for her...first of all she has to come back 100% healthy...when shes healthy, shes unstoppable...she also has a chance to win more tournaments this year...

The one slam that i wish Serena wins is obviously the US Open as it is the last remaining slam of the year...i also hope she wins the WTA Championship and another title in the fall...ending the year in the top 5...
