I'm talking about the matches with Henin in both of them. I think that both matches were the best matches of 2002. If you forget about the hand incident in Paris it was a highly competitive match and with the crowd getting involve it was also highly dramatic. And the USO SF, that's just a classic. It was late, the crowd, and the shot making were exquisite.

How do you guys analyze both matches and which do you think was really the better match? Both matches were great for different reasons of course.

USP SF no doubt. At many points, I thought Justine was going to lose but she just kept on fighting and fought back bit by bit.

I have been trying to find the video of that match for a long long time but no success so far.....

Anyone?

US Semi Final - JHH vs JenCap was the best

especially as Jenny came within 2 points from victory nine times - Justine kept on fighting and not giving up.

Do you think that Jenny if she had won the semi-final would have beaten Kim for the Championship Title - or would Kim have beaten her like she did at Stanford four weeks back?

Serena made one BIG mistake in the SF...she had an open court, was at the net and hit a VERY SAFE volley...which Justine easly got to to hit a winning passing shot. That was game point for Serena and (I think) would have given her a 5-2 lead. Instead it became 4-3.

*This is a tough won. I would expect Kim to choke against anyone (perhaps more against Justine).

*If Clijsters would not have choked...it would have been her title as Jenn would have little in the tank.

US Open was definitely better.

I don't even think you can compare. The US Open semi was the most physically demanding match I've ever seen. Every point seemed to be a great rally. I don't think it comes close to the French semi.

Serena just played so bad at the net that day....she came in plenty often but she couldnīt finish the points...after breaking to make it 5-5 and fending countless bpīs and getting advantage, she totally blows a volley for 6-5 lead. I would have liked to see Justine win after THAT!!

And no, Jen wouldnīt have beaten Kim....Justine has the game that can disrupt Kimīs rythm, all the slices and stuff...Jen I think would have given Kim a nice rythm.

I really enjoyed the RG SF. There were some great rallies and some exciting shot making throughout the match. I don't really buy that Serena played very poorly. I think she didn't take her chances in the third set when she had some but she also didn't really have that many chances in the first set. The second was a very exciting set especially near the end of it.

US Open no doubt; the FOSF was not as competitive, IMO. Controversial, yes; competitive uh-uh.

I still stick with the USO-semi.I mean everything was there:the amazing points, drama, fightingspirit, the atmosphere, the fysical efforts, the fact that it was in the middle of the night in Belgium was great to I think.Never have seen such a sensational match in my life.

USO ... I was dissappointed with Justine after FO ... I was glad that she had won, the "euphoria" had a very bitter aftertaste.

Plus the USO SF was just amazing ... Staying up in the middle of the night, biting your nails for three hours and having heart attacks 11 times ... The first time I even supported aloud for JuJu when I was in front of my TV ... And the excitement when she won and not being able to sleep of it afterwards :D

79 errors say she did play poorly ;)

Errors aren't everything. She had several glaring errors that she shouldn't have made but for the most part the errors she committed were because Justine played a good point or hit a good angled shot that Serena didn't get to in time to hit back properly. Of course there were a lot of shots that Serena just boinked out for no reason, but that's in every match. And again it's clay and Justine had a plan, Serena's never been a fan of varied shots and paces...that should induce a few stupid errors.

Let's not get into this again. No one will ever agree on anything.

if you watched Serena play, you would know that she USES varied shots and paces ;) she just doesn't play squash on a tennis court

No only that but also to add to the comment of shap_halfr, the crowd getting involved in Rg? yes they were booing Serena and applauding her mistakes since the first ball was played.

Dont buy that Serena played poorly but tell me where are you going to put the 70+ unforced errors she did on that day 8-)... Definetly and without any doubt Usopen semi was way better. Both Jenn and Justine played a great match, both fought like lions out there.

The US OPEN was a better match, but the RG was more exciting. Remember Serena carried a winning streak of thirty-something matches won in GS, and Justine had beaten her acouple of weeks before, so as Momo. And Serena had KICKED Momo's ass, and everyone thought she'd do the same with Justine but Justine played just amazing!
It was a bit unexpected and a high quality match as well... both of them!

Loved the USO semis it was quite a roller coaster ride with some entertaining points too bad Jen couldn't close it out.

If my memory serves me right, she made a series of double faults to lose that game, serving 4-2, 30-love up. I could be wrong though, but I don't think so.

I like the USO SF more b/c i guessed i wanted Jen to win the whole thing. She was playing amazing at the tourney before USO and had so much confidence going into this. I felt like she deserved a 4th GS title. After that loss, i couldn't get the match outta my mind for quite awhile.
