There are many great players out there in the Top100 that have never won a singles WTA Titles.

Nadia Petrova - at six in the world - this is wrong, but she is young and probably like ElenaD she will win loads at once.

Lina Krasnoroutskaya - another russian typed for greatness but not shown full potential - but has beaten Kim Clijsters.

Karolina Sprem - done well so far in career, reached finals including Strasbourg and Vienna 03 but not picked up that trophy - sure her time will come but best for her to play the Tier Vs and IVs for her maiden title.

Els Callens - 33 - has won lots of doubles titles but never a singles, does anyone think its possible at her age and does anyone know when she will retire in tennis?

Maria Vento-Kabchi - comes and goes, succsessful last year reemerging into the Top50 but no singles titles yet and at 29 is there a chance?

Shinobu Asagoe - got to finals (Hobart 04, Birmingham 03) but never got to pick up the trophy - at 27 not too late but will she?

Emannuelle Gagliardi - not a singles title for the Swiss miss.

Marion Bartoli - seeded to get into the finals loads this year but always falls early in the first round.

Laura Granville - Wimbledon 4R once, and a College champ but no real progress on the tour.

Francessca Schiavone - she cret into the Top20 earlier this year if anyone noticed but hasn't won a title, she did get to USopen QF03 and Roland Garros QF01.

Tatiana Golovin - well....by her recent run of success she could be the new Martina Hingis!

OTHERS
Alina Jidkova
Dally Randrianteffy
Anca Barna
Lindsay Lee-Waters
Petra Mandula
Saori Obata
Ludmila Cervanova
Akiko Morigami
Jelena Kostanic
Jie Cheng

So who does everyone think out of these will win at least one title and who won't?

K-lina should get a title some time this year.
I also expect Jelena to pick up something like Sopot or one of the Asian tournaments at the end of the year.

If I was a betting man Id say within a two year span (if all stay healthy) then LinaK, Petrova, K-lina, and Tatiana Golovin will all win one title. Guarenteed!

Im surprised FranSchi (Francessca Schiavone) hasnt one a title yet, thats a little surprising to me.

:bigcry: Hope she will comeback sometimes this year and do well... I don't think she will play a WTA tournament except maybe Asian tournaments in October ;)

Yes maybe on one beautiful day Anna K. will stop travel with Enrikkosso Iglesiaso.
Stop playing exhibitions and start to work on her game and win at least one... one small even verrrrrry small tournament :tape:

Yup, she beat Silvia Talaja at the Japan Open.

Another player would be Tatiana Panova.
I'd say Adriana Serra Zanetti too based on Martina Hingis' comments (plus she's one of my faves. :tape: )

Tatiana  she should have won at least one:( but Adriana  because she runs fast?lol:)
It is not easy to win titles though. In WTA even the weakest event has top 20 player seeds. Which means, theoretically you have to top 20 material during that week. At at high tiers, you have to be top 5 during that week. Not easy to do at all, it is not easy at all, Anna Kournikova was smart to pick high tiers, (or forced to by sponsors:rolleyes: ) I dont mind if they won any titles, call me crazy, but a semifinal at a slam gets you a lot more money and fame than a title in say Tashkent:)

Some players need good weeks to get the winning habit. Others seem to have jumped quite quickly from not being a contender to largely playing Tier 1s and good Tier2 s where there is an obvious problem winning - if they played a few more Tier3-5 tournaments they would probably get a win but they don't seem to want to.

I think it's only a matter of time and good health before Nadia wins a title; she certainly has the goods but she needs to be more consistent. I wouldn't be surprised if her recent Charleston results were due to fatigue and/or injury.

Sprem should also get her inaugural title soon, maybe by next year. She can only improve; unfortunately it's the clay seasona and she's injured so maybe not just yet, but soon; she certainly has the potential.

Some of those players on your list have the ability, but not the consistency. For instance, Mandula has been playing well lately, but how long will she continue to play this way and will she improve.

Until Schiavone finally gets something re done mentally, she will never win a title, there is WAY to little consistency in her...

I wouldn't write anyone off. A title for any of these players is possible.

Honestly if this thread were made a couple of weeks ago, who would have said "I just know Emilie Loit is going to win one any day now."

Alex is the reason Serena's left knee is messed up: it buckled under the pressure of carrying Alex to the '02 Leipzig doubles title. ;)

You know that's a pretty crappy thing to say and if somebody said "I hope Elena Dementieva never wins another title" you would not like that very much...........:fiery:

I always pull for Miss Callens - I never thought that Nicole would win one, was worried but then she did. For Els, the grass season isn't long enough.

Maria Vento - Rumor has it she has gained back her weight. I hope she does win one however, she a very pretty game.

Jelena Kostanic - She reached the finals in Helsinki last year but lost.

I hope the Asian girls start stacking up some titles to join Ai. I am sure that Shinobu will come through somewhere and Jie will probably win one also - she is only 20.

Elena Likhovtseva - Yes, she has won titles, but way back in the 90's, her last coming at Gold Coast many in like 1997. I would have thought she would have won more. Seems to step it up in Slams...

I would be so happy if Dally won a title! :worship:

seeing petra win a title would be really cool.
and of course anna, that would be cause for elation.
sprem should get a title anytime now...
and petrova won't probably win a title IMO until she plays a small event. she plays a really difficult schedule and often upsets someone or has a big win and then can't come out and back it up the next round. she's definitely good enough though.

I think Petrova could win more than one title in the future. for sure more titles than Dementieva.

I think Saori can win one this year, she got to the final of Tashkent in 2003 :)

Els can win one - and I hope she wins one this year (possibly her last year). Her best chance is on the fast courts.
